Questions & Answers

Can you explain this X and O flip I hear about so often?

There's only one problem - Asian countries swapped the O and X around. In the past, confirming would have been X, but right now, it's O & It also works the other way around. The controls will be back to normal as long as you buy the games from America, but on the playstation home page, it will be O to confirm and X to back out.

Is there a way to revert the flipped x and o buttons back to normal using the us firmware update? Can you explain the Japanese startup logo as well? Is that okay?

As of a few months ago, they added this in as an update, so now you can change it from the default to have the cross represent confirmation and the circle represent cancellation. Although the started up logo doesn't differ between PAL and US consoles, the warning stating "Read the health and safety manual before using" is in Japanese every time you turn on your console. My standard Japanese PlayStation 4 tells me (From what I know)

How does it come preinstalled with its primary language, English or Japanese?

With the primary language set to Japanese, this comes pre-installed. The English settings may be changed at a later time. My sincere thanks go out to

Why is this model different from the new black model being sold in the United States?

Except for the fact that the x and o buttons can be set to accept and cancel in some menu interfaces (hitting x for accept hitting o for cancel), nothing is There may be some confusion in choosing menu options depending on how well ingrained these buttons are in your muscle memory.

This is so cool! As stated, the product was delivered on time
4/5

I received this set in a big cardboard box that contained the Sony package, so it came in good condition, aside from the sony box that had a few screws missing, but that isn't a big deal, as long as the stuff wasn't tampered with. The only thing that made me go like WTF was the fact that I didn't receive a white PS4, it's actually gray. I like that this edition is a little grayer than the 20th anniversary edition, but it is still a very neutral gray. It doesn't stand out too bad as compared with a bright white. It's a pretty neutral and relaxing hue. This is a far better black than the standard. If you have a great camera, you can see the texture and actual color from a picture, but I doubt that can be captured. In addition, the pictures make the console look brighter than it actually is it looks white. This is all matte finish, as you can see in the screenshot. WHAT ARE YOU SAYING? That actually makes sense to me because it would be easier to hide hand prints, and it feels nicer to touch as well. Anyways, I just like to cuddle with my console. It is an actual button that you press down on instead of some kind of touch screen. I don't know if you like calling it that or what There is a manual in Japanese, but I don't think it contains anything important, since the PS4 is easy to set up even for someone like me who does not read Japanese. I wasn't aware I was only getting the controller and console, I thought it came with the eye camera. I apologize for my mistakes. Be sure to research the features of the different models before buying so you don't end up with a grey PS4 while expecting a white, glossy one. Regardless, it was still a great deal, this was the best I could find for the price I paid. *** Don't forget, "X" is actually how to go back, rather than "O"! At the start I did have a moment when I was trying to enter my Wi-Fi info, but I accidentally pressed the back button. Plus, I type extremely fast, so I kept pressing it after I had entered everything correctly. It wasn't too difficult to manage it once I got the hang of it so I shouldn't have a hard time. BAM BAM BOOM! I got setup in no time. In other words, it should be this way. This PS4 is quiet to use, has 500GB of storage, and a few internal and external adjustments. The benefits are This console has a matte finish, dull white to be exact, an engraved PS3 logo, a protruding power button, a bright light in the center, fast loading and a great price. The cons are The grayish color would have been nice if I had known ahead of time

The software worked fine and didn't cause any problems at first
4/5

Initially had no problems with this product since purchasing it in March. It has worked well since then. Purchase of the Japanese import might appear to have a number of problems that are not immediately apparent. To start with, DVDs from the USA are incompatible with the region codes. A Blu-ray disc There is no problem with Blu-ray disks in the US and Japan, as they are the same region letter. It is only problems with DVDs and numbers when it comes to Region 4 and Region 5. You can find YouTube videos outlining how to change the region code on a PS4, but the Japanese imports don't have any options for changing the region. As stated earlier, this is only an issue with DVDs, so if you don't watch them, it isn't a Typically, the reversed X O buttons only work in apps and games, and once you get into an app or game it will revert back to standard. The biggest problem I encountered when I first got this product was that there was an issue with it not waking up. Since the Xbox 360 is less than a year old and still under warranty, I was not concerned until I called Playstation and found out that since it is a Japanese import they are unable to service it there. Being unable to read Japanese, I found it unhelpful to go to the Japan Playstation website Alternatively, if you have more time or the ability to translate the page, it could be a viable option. I reviewed the PlayStation US recommendation that I take my system to a local shop for repairs. A message was sent to the seller but I did not hear back. My experience at Amazon was overwhelmingly positive and I got the information I needed. The benefits are The console is the same as a PS4, just with a different color* Cons There is the DVD issue, the XO issue everyone is complaining about, and Playstation US is not able to service it.

The product is fantastic it is very easy to use
4/5

It was faulty when I received it, and it would turn off after a few hours of gameplay, and if I left it in rest mode overnight, it would not turn on when I woke up the next Thank goodness I was able to return the product smoothly, they paid for shipping, and they sent me another unit before I had even sent back the faulty unit. Taking a look at the new version of the PS4, it has a gorgeous color and changes the languages as soon as the system turns on. As well, the O/X button swap is only found in the PlayStation menu, not in the games, and I don't even notice it. You can also assign the buttons to different locations in the settings, but this is a small inconvenience so I didn't bother.

This is an excellent system
5/5

Purchasing this item has been a very pleasant experience. In the past, I have owned Xbox systems over Playstation ones, but I decided to buy a Playstation because of some of its exclusives, such as I really like this system, and the Japanese import looks great. The O and X buttons are switched around on the home menu, as many of the reviews mention, however you'll get used to it in no time.

It is a mistake to mix up X and Circle
3/5

My PS4 looks great and paired with my matching Ortz cooling stand, but I found that, due to the Japan import PS4, the circle button defaults to select, and the x button to back, which is pretty confusing since all games work the opposite way A select is an x, while a back is a circle. It can be extremely frustrating at times. Apart from that, a great product and a great.

There have been a lot of sales of this item
5/5

It is an excellent product. I like it all around. The games I play on my Xbox match this one. I got the package on time, and all the boxes were new. The experience was very positive with no complaints. The price was also very affordable. There were 405 in all. Use the 10 instead of 00. There is a flat rate of $20 for overnight.

I think you're going to enjoy it
5/5

Thank God it came in so quickly and is working like new. The game is highly recommended, especially if you hate the x/o swap on the PS4 (pre PS5) and play a lot of Japan-published You've got.
