This is a great way to refurbish controllers that have decomposed. Currently I use a PS3 for a Blu-ray player, and as the controllers age, the rubber coated joysticks become sticky and a bit gross. It is primarily for use with my Wii U Gamepad that I purchased these. They are just fine for that application. On the Gamepad, they are somewhat loose, so it might take a while to get used to them.
