When mine arrived with the SN, it played well in windows 10 in single player, installed with an external dvd drive, and then after you install the game, look for the patch to remove the CD/DVD drive so you can play the game without it.
Yes, it is.
Even though this game is older, it is still entertaining. We hope all of you have fun.
Selected User Reviews For Rise of Nations Rise of Legends
I enjoy this game's graphics, gameplay, and engine. The game has a steep learning curve and enough differences between the three civilizations to make almost everyone happy. There are three Alin races the Persian, the fantasy, and the magic In terms of race, the Vinci are steampunk/sci-fi orientated In contrast to the technological advances, the Aztec/Inca/Cuotl styles are more in line with the technology. As for the hot keys, they are simple enough, with the same QWER on the first row, shift-pressing for the second row. I want to know the answer for the second and so on. All items are well documented, so you can get a sense of their role by hovering over them. In this RTS game, the units are not idiotic about pathing like in others. There are some fantastic heroes and special units (for example, the Alin elder dragon in glass circles) that are well suited to the game. The game is beautifully rendered and really enjoyable. Only thing wrong is that we lost hours of time because of network connections errors even when connected over In the past, games would abort if more than two players disconnected, and there is no way to save a game, so that meant the game would end around 40 seconds after it began. Having fiddled with the windows firewall settings repeatedly, we were able to determine that the windows firewall settings, beyond the pop up, don't play a huge role in this problem. Our router already had all the ports open, and we configured our firewall to let anything from Rise of Legends pass through using any protocol.
Our BIG fix to this problem XML Core Services (Microsoft XML 1. 0 Service Pack 3) is supported. While running Windows 8, we didn't think we needed this, but we did, and we were able to play while 4 of us were online at once. In spite of that, there were plenty of checks A firewall protects An additional settings window appears when you try to join the multiplayer mode. In the background, there are a few ups) You should be able to connect after 3 attempts This pops up 5 times There's a glitch in this review, so I'm taking a star off. Moreover, it's an RTS game that can be played in a short time. It usually took 45 minutes or more to complete a game once it was up and running. It is fairly decisive once the balance tips, so it's relatively cheap to test it out. You might also want to know that we have at least 3 copies running off a single disk install with a single key, so it's a very small investment to test.
Unfortunately, this game suffered from bad marketing. Look at anyone who gives this a bad review, and their biggest complaint is that it isn't a sequel to Rise of Nations. Considering how much effort was made to make this game, it's really a shame it's misunderstood, the graphics, units, buildings, spells, all of which are so detailed and unique to each aspect of the game, along with the fantastic soundtrack. We are all too often incapable of judging a video game on its own merits rather than complaining that it is not a sequel to one, I would advise any fan of sci-fi video games to have a look at it. To buy this game, you need to be interested in sci-fi or fantasy games.
This irritates me a lot. Instead of the Rise of Nations, I received the regular Rise of A Rise of Legends sequel. As I was abroad and unable to return this product, I asked my wife to contact customer service who gave me an email of a refund so I can repurchase the item from a different seller. That makes me very, very angry.
Make sure you double check before purchasing this item. I and I thought that I would be receiving part of the republished version by Value Software and I hoped that the patch would come with it. A copy of the original game was sent to me which must be patched manually with patches you must find on your own.
A new condition has arisen.
I could never understand why the players didn't like such an excellent game. I borrowed the game from a friend at the time, but my computer wasn't powerful enough to play it so I bought it a few years later when I had a better computer. Line anymore, I got bored, but the campaign was awesome too, so the money wasn't totally lost. It has a good story, soundtrack, it's pretty fun and the graphics are still above average, so wow why was this game so poorly received? I am writing my first (not very useful) review, so please do not I love it.
Great real-time strategy game. I think it would be boring after 3 races with only 3 parties to choose from. The game is very well designed!.
