Questions & Answers

In the event that this is nothing more than an external USB hard drive with 32GB, then why can't any other device matching that description do the same thing?

A 32GB drive is not "just" a 32GB drive. This drive also contains an ISO image of the free open-source OS you can use to boot it Linus is a free and open-source operating system There is an installed version of The fact is you can put an OS on any USB flash drive (even a very small one, such as 8GB or 16GB), but a drive without software on it will NOT do the same. As an alternative, if you have a computer that is connected to the internet and has a USB port and a USB flash drive, then you can create As a result, any USB hard drive can be made to perform the same functions (though the particular Linux version used by the Xtra - The product description does not disclose any customizations that PC users may have performed, so you wouldn't be able to recreate it exactly the same way without that information.

Because my old Sony handi cam is incompatible with Windows 10, I need to transfer old files to an old Windows 7 PC so I can use it to see my old Sony photos. Do I have to give up this ?

Sorry, but I had to return the unit as it did not work out for me. You can order and simply return it if it fails to work out, if it is in doubt.

Could you store data on your hard drive or do you need to use this device?

It appears that you cannot save data directly to the computer's hard drive, but you can access the files from the hard drive. To transfer files to the hard drive of the computer, you can use a thumb drive or the internet.

People who do not know this are generally unfamiliar with the fact that there are three main operating systems available There are three main operating systems Windows, MAC OS, and Linux. While there are tools and applications that enable some of these three operating systems to be cross compatible with each other, for the most part they are not. There is a Linux operating system on this device. The Linux operating system has been around for a long time but most people do not use it. It has many tools, and has a desktop that looks like Windows or MAC, but does not run their programs. What would be the point in using it if it isn't compatible with the existing software? This is because of the reason stated therein. This is a way to quickly boot a computer and access the existing hardware and perform similar tasks to that of a computer running Windows or Mac, but it is not a desktop operating system. Therefore, if you want to look at the web, you can't use Internet Explorer, and if you'd like to open a word document you can't use Microsoft Word as well. Also, you can't use applications that are written for Windows or Mac while using this. The ones that come with this product do the same thing as similar ones. Your computer MUST be able to start from a USB drive! Typically, when a computer is turned on, it will simply look for its hard drive and boot the operating system that is installed on it. It is therefore essential that you can change that setting in order to be able to use the device. The boot configuration of the computer has been changed. In what part of the menu can I find that? Since the introduction of the BIOS menu in computers 20 years ago, every computer manufacturer has offered different ways to access it. In order to use this device, you will need to change your BIOS. For the most part, all the manufacturers use F1, F2, F8 or ESC to access this menu. Therefore, every time you turn on your computer, hitting one of these keys on the keyboard will bring this up. Normally, it takes about a second after the power is turned on to catch it, and it can take more than one attempt before it allows Windows or Mac OS to load. If you have one of these systems then you are in luck and can use this device immediately as soon as you receive it. In some cases, computer manufacturers automatically look for a USB boot device before a hard drive. Then you will have to access the mini-operating system on your computer in order to use this device.

Once you receive this device, you will have to load it with the mini operating system included. A similar desktop to that of Windows or Mac will be presented to you. In this case, the KEY word is similar. All of them differ slightly, and they all work a bit differently than what you are used In practice, however, they are not much different than if you had been using Microsoft Windows and then switched to Apple Mac. It would be possible to browse the web, open word or excel documents, watch videos, edit photos and perform many other tasks with this USB stick if you understand how to use it. However, this will require a special set of applications included on the USB stick, not the ones you normally use.

Xtra-plus all they offer for the price of one You will see that the loaded version of Linix can also access your old hard drive (assuming that it was still functioning). If you click down through some of the directories, your old hard drive will be mounted as a Clicking on it will reveal the old Windows or MAX OS files. You can browse those files and access your old documents, but not run any of the old applications that were on your old hard drive. Meaning if you have purchased photo editing software, you will not be able to use it. The Photoshop will be there and you will be able to see your saved pictures, but you cannot run the Photoshop application on the old drive. However, there are complementary applications that are included in Xtra-PC. I don't Applications with Xtra- should not be expected I want my PC to act like a The 00 applications such as Photoshop or Microsoft Office will not work. These days, companies like Google make and sell laptops with Chrome OS. You can buy these at places such as Best Buy and These are the types of products we offer at Xtra-Violet You need a PC to use it on your own. In addition, they don't run Windows or Mac, they run a version of a new operating system they developed that has a lot of features like those of Windows and Mac, yet doesn't have them. In other words, this is exactly what you should expect from the device. If you state "which broke my computer" please stop saying that. You don't have to change anything in your current system in order to use this device. You can safely remove the USB device once you have found and accessed the BIOS menu. Once you have done this successfully, all of the changes and actions you make are saved on the USB device. Once you have turned off the computer and removed the USB device, your old computer is back to normal. I've already said it, so why am I doing it again? This is going to be my last reference to MAC/Apple. Windows systems that are older than five years are usually out of date, have viruses, or simply don't have the power to run all the latest Microsoft Windows software. The device allows people to continue using old hardware with a new, cut-down, optimized version of an Operating System, which has a lot of similar features as Windows, so that older hardware can be used on an as-needed basis. What are the chances it will When Xtra-functions are involved, it generally works well Whenever the PC boots up, it will start doing this There will be a startup and display of the OS desktop almost all the time, but other things may Things such as your internet router's IP address may be possible to change. You'll need passwords for your wifi, and to install print drivers for the type of printer that you have. My review was prompted by having used this kind of product for years and it does work as it claims. However, it is not magic in fact, you can make your own for free without having to spend any money on it. There is a freeware version of Linux that is readily available for download. In order to make it work, however, you will probably need a degree in computer programming. The people behind this make it very easy for you to get all the necessary applications with all the necessary files all bundled up into one convenient package for an affordable price. In my opinion that is a pretty good deal for the 100 or so hours it would take you to make it yourself.

Anyone who is thinking of buying this should be cautious! In order to use the product, you need to switch to a brand new You will not be able to use any Windows products Information about this is not provided on the product page

We strongly recommend against buying it if you will not become obsolete and will not be using a single Microsoft Windows product besides learning an entirely new operating system.

Comparison of the What You Want to the What You Need
5/5

This is what it does. With this item, you can regain access to old, slow PCs and repair and restore their data. It cannot carry out the following tasks I'm so sorry! It lets you continue to use your settings and programs from the old PC in the same way. This will allow you to boot up your PC the same way you did before, just faster*. This program will clean or fix your old PC on its own. Basically, it will boot the computer with its own settings, not yours, and there is no way to restore your settings without reinstalling the entire operating system. For those who have an old computer that they have given up on and want to try and use it (but not in the same way) again, this product will be just what they need if they want to continue to use it the same way but reboot it, this device will not help them.

With no Windows knowledge and no Linux experience, I was able to get all basic programs that I used to have in Windows 10 Home Edition similar to the ones I had in Windows 10. I spent about two hours on it before I got Xtra-Xtra You will need a computer to play this game The dreadful updates to Windows 10 took me two days each time -- the updates failed and I spent two days waiting each time. To my surprise, my PC was no longer compatible with the In addition to Currently, on my PC there are no Microsoft forced updates, no waiting for a "patch" to be installed, and I can access and view all my old Windows 10 data files.

A boot sequence was followed by a freeze
5/5

I received the following error messages during boot A chipset that has been deemed unrecognized. It requested that I connect to the internet after the boot process was completed. The second one was selected by me. My PC froze after attempting to connect to a 4GHz router and entering the password. I had to hold down the hardware power button to restart it completely. Four times in a row, then the computer would not boot.
