Although I am not certain, I am inclined to believe so. Nevertheless, there is a way to set up the game to think that it is running under a different version of Windows by changing the compatibility mode.

There was no light and the details were too small to see

The game has a dark tone, and I found it frustrating. Most of the time, the hidden objects were not visible simply because they were too small (and by small I mean very small) or they were completely hidden in a pitch black atmosphere. Most of the time, clicking at random over the black areas was all I could do until I happened to click on the object, then I had to endure penalty after penalty for clicking multiple times. There was much more fun and thrill in Escape the Museum 2 than in its original version, as there had been travel inside and out of the museum and a lot.

I have been playing this game off and on for a few days, and what I dislike the most is that some of the items are extremely difficult My search for a bone took a long time. My grandchildren would not play this as often as other games, so I bought it for them. The player has to read a lot of dialog in order to get clues and there are no puzzles to solve. While I'm sorry I bought the second one, so far I haven't played it, so hopefully it has improved.

As far as hidden objects are concerned, this is a bit of a challenge. Luckily, there is no secret in the black area, but it's cleverly disguised and thus remains unknown. Also, if you ever get stuck or tired, there are limitless hints at your disposal. Other activities are available as well, and it takes a little time to review them all. The money is well spent!.
