These joysticks are a direct replacement for the joycon's dreadful stock joysticks. I was about to stop playing with my stock ones because the drift had gotten so bad. To rectify the situation, I purchased a Hori Split Pad Pro (an excellent controller) and was about to discard my old joycons. Then I came across these, and the rest, as they say, is history. As long as you do it correctly, installation takes about 5 minutes per controller. My first attempt failed miserably, and one of the connector ribbons was ruined. I suppose it's all about love and learning. I got the other three in without a hitch, and after calibrating them according to the manufacturer's instructions, they're working like a charm!.
Editing/Updating: Within a day of writing this review, customer service contacted me and assisted me in resolving my issues. The customer service was excellent, and they were able to replace the faulty item that I had received. I would strongly advise you to buy from this seller! br>br>The first of the four Joycons I installed was misaligned, causing the Joycon to drift. I'd give it a five out of five if it weren't for one faulty joystick. In terms of accuracy and tactility, I believe these are superior to those included with the switch. I have yet to contact any kind of support in order to try to fix the faulty one I received. I'll keep you updated on any help that comes my way.
I haven't yet installed these specific sticks, so I can't comment on their durability or whether they will solve my drift problem. However, I was disappointed that the picture shows four black add-on tips, but my package only included two black and two white with paw prints (one blue and one pink - see below). similar to what can be seen in the 6-minute video the same seller's pack). That makes me extremely unhappy. I'll update this review once I've installed and tried them out.
I'm not going to go into great detail about how difficult these are to install. That will depend on your level of comfort with repairing small electronics, which I have. Before you buy, look for a picture-based guide online (iFixIt has a good one) to see if you're comfortable with it. br>br>This item does not include the required screwdrivers and tools. I didn't have a problem with that because I already had them. The joysticks themselves are similar to the originals in terms of feel. They're slightly stiffer than the joystick I replaced, but that's most likely due to their age. You'll get used to the slightly different stiffness on one joycon fairly quickly, so it's not a big deal. It's a success. br>br> After installation, there were no issues. After installing it, I did a quick calibration in the console's settings, and it now works flawlessly. br>br>I've only installed one so far, but I'm sure I'll require more in the future. I can't say whether or not all of mine work because the first one I tried was flawless.
In my area, I've started a small covid business repairing joycons. I've bought a lot of replacement sticks, some for as little as $12. A pack of four costs $99 (includes shipping). Because I haven't been able to find a joystick that consistently works, I tried these. I've had to return one or two of four packs. I've been pleasantly surprised so far with the first pack of four I've used. I was a little concerned at first because these were a few dollars more expensive, but they were well worth it. The sticks are perfectly calibrated, and they have a firmness to them that other game controllers lack right out of the box. They have a better feel to them than brand new sticks straight out of the box, in my opinion. I won't buy any more if the second pack I purchased has the same consistency as these.
I decided to give it a shot to see if it would solve the joystick drift issue. I didn't need to buy any tools because I already had a PC repair kit. Making the connection wasn't easy for me because I don't have the best hands, but I got it done. I'd dock it a half-star if I could because the video link included in the package is broken, so I had to find my own. It's not difficult to find a video, but don't send out links that are no longer active. Stick covers are cute; I'm not sure I'll use them, but who knows. I like that I don't have to send my controller to Nintendo and that I still have three extra sticks.
I purchased this because the left joycon was moving on its own. I realized after it arrived that I needed to also purchase a triwing screwdriver, which you will undoubtedly require. 5 screwdrivers with triwings There are no instructions, but that's not a problem; I simply went to YouTube and found a plethora of instructional videos. It's been a week since I replaced the joystick, and it's still working perfectly; just a reminder that you're dealing with electronics! I scrubbed my hands thoroughly and wore gloves as a precaution. Because the oils and dirt from your fingers can contaminate the surface, I took my time and worked in a clean environment.
When I noticed so many product listings on Amazon with negative reviews, I decided to use a con stick. I was fortunate to come across this listing, which had a lot of positive feedback. Each of the four sticks came with a rubber stick cover and a plastic holster. It took me about 15 minutes to replace my tri-pod. There is no drift at all with the wing/phillips/tweezers kit I bought a few years ago. The stick feels tight and responsive, and it's clearly new. I'm glad I took the time to look for a reputable vendor!.
