As for charging the switch, yes, it does. This product works perfectly. *those who have given this a low rating should reconsider. As far as charging is concerned, it does work on the switch. A switch in the dock can't be charged by this device. For weeks I have been charging my switch and pro controller using this exact charge block, and I have the snes classic, too. In order to pack my travel bag more efficiently, I decided I needed an additional one.

It is impossible for this to be used to charge the console itself, even with a little research or common sense. Devices such as controllers, for example, can be charged in this manner. The actual controller charger is kept in my suitcase so I can use it to charge my pro controller. The notion that this charger will perform the same function as the one that comes with the console and is plugged into the dock or the device itself. I do not understand how anyone with a brain would overlook this. I am very happy with how it works, exactly what I expected.

All of us have several accessories for the Switch in our family Nintendo's pro controllers, the charging grip for the joy con, and Nintendo usb ac adapter is compatible with all of them, so you don't have to purchase an additional We have a few generic USB AC adapters around our house that can probably be used just as well, but this adapter gives me a bit more peace of mind knowing our accessories are powered at the recommended power rate, and it is an official Nintendo item.

A lot of the marketing on this item is inaccurate. My intended purpose for this item was to serve as a portable adaptor for my Switch, but after opening the box, I realized that I wasn't purchasing it for the console. Buying this won't allow you to charge your Switch, but it may charge accessories.

There are other alternatives that will accomplish the same thing for less money, but I'm a name brand guy so I want to make sure anything for my Nintendo switch is either made by Nintendo or licensed by them. However, this charger will not provide enough power to charge your Switch while you are playing, so it is best used to charge anything requiring a USB wall adapter. The charger will charge your Switch (or any device that uses USB C), but it won't send out the same amount of power as the original wall AC plug. This basically means if you're using THIS adapter to charge the switch while you play the switch, the battery will start draining (slower, but still down).
