Questions & Answers

So, how is it going with the new 3dsxl?

I've got a pink Nintendo 3DS XL, but I'm not sure how to use it. What should I do first?

The charging port on my son's 3DSXL is broken, so he can't charge it. Is it necessary for the port to be operational for this item to work?

There are two small iron lines near the charging port if you look closely. The two iron lines are used to charge this charging port.

Is there an ac adapter included with it?

No, you plug in your 3DS's AC adapter. This docking station will not work with the brand new Nintendo 3DS because the charging outputs are designed differently.

I'm getting conflicting responses about whether or not this will work with the NEW 3DS XL. Is it, in fact, true?

It is not compatible with the NEW 3DS XL. The contacts on the back of the 3DS are in different places, which causes this issue. There is one designed specifically for the NEW 3DS XL that holds the 3DS. I purchased it from Nintendo's website, but I've also seen it for sale on Amazon.

The 3DS XL (that's right, the XL!) has a great charging base
5/5

This charge base is long overdue for the 3DS XL (or LL in Japan). br>br>Importing the official Nintendo Charge Dock from Japan (for the 3DS LL) is much more expensive than this item. It's great, but I wish it was a little heavier because it moves around a lot. br>br>This item appears to be plagued by the same issues as their larger and official Nintendo product cousins: To get the 3DS XL into the charging pins, you'll need to press down a little on the 3DS unit. as well as the fact that the item is too light I'm thinking of gluing some heavy weights underneath the unit (which is hollow) to give it some more heft. br>br>The unit does not come with a charger, which is to be expected given that none of the alternatives do. The official charger is in perfect working order. ever, and the fit into the Dock Station's back appears to be extremely secure. Because I don't intend to remove my charger from the base on a regular basis, I believe it should be securely fastened for a long time. br>br>I can't complain for the price of this item! It's something I recommend to anyone who owns a 3DS XL, as it will prevent your charging port from dying prematurely! br>br>*Edited on September 5th* - The spring has finally broken after almost a month with it. It's not nearly as difficult to press the unit into place to charge any longer (in fact, I almost never have to). I believe the majority of complaints about the spring being too tight stem from a failure to allow it to break in properly.

Please take note of this product's warning: First and foremost, let me state that I am EXTREMELY disappointed with this product; it is cheap
3/5

Yes, in terms of cost, but the plastic is also quite flimsy. The official Nintendo one, on the other hand, is not. My issue with this device is that it never sits properly in the charging dock when I don't have anything on my 3ds XL (no cases, etc. ). As a result, no charge will be applied. I have to fiddle with it all the time to get it to charge properly. I've discovered that if I put something on top of my 3ds, it will actually have enough force to go down and keep it charging rather than slipping and stopping. Do yourself a favor and don't buy this product; instead, get the official Nintendo one, even if it's a little more expensive; otherwise, it'll charge when I can get it to charge.

WITH THE DS, IT WORKS EXCELLENTLY
5/5

My son's Nintendo DS stopped charging, so I looked on Amazon for a replacement. Not only does it work, but it was less expensive than purchasing a new device; it was a wise investment, and I am completely satisfied.

It couldn't possibly be as bad as it appears
3/5

The product, as it turns out, is useless. I should have read the other reviews before purchasing, but I figured for the price, it couldn't be all bad. The product, as it turns out, is useless. To get my Nintendo 3DS XL (the pikachu edition, in case that matters) to charge consistently, I have to weigh it down, as other reviews have stated. If I don't, it will either try to charge but fail (resulting in the little charging light flashing on-) or it will not charge at all. and-off (due to a shaky connection) or simply do nothing. Please spend your money on a Nintendo-licensed product (which is currently only available on ebay). Otherwise, you'll have just spent too much money on a 3DS XL stand.

Is there no way to get a score of 0? This is a poor imitation of a great product; every time you place your 3DS on the base, it begins to charge for about fifteen seconds before abruptly ceasing; amazon was great about issuing a refund, but that doesn't make this a good product

This one would be a no-go for me
3/5

I gave it two stars because, while it technically works and has shown me that the problem with the DS is the charging port, it is otherwise complete garbage. It doesn't sit properly in it to charge, so I had to rest a weight on top of it to keep it in place. Even then, it loses contact, which is a huge disappointment.

My daughter broke the charging input on two 3DS XLs, so I really like this product
5/5

I don't have a lot of money, so I had to come up with a solution. This dock station is where you should go. Simply place the device in the cradle and bounce it. Simply make certain that the charging light is turned on. It's possible that you'll need to use a little more force with your finger. This is a must-have for little hands.

Place the DS on top of it and give it a gentle tap to settle it
5/5

The issue has been resolved. Some people have complained that their Nintendo DS does not charge properly; however, when I place my Zelda DS on the charging dock and give it a gentle tap, it immediately charges. There have been no issues with connectors connecting or the plastic being too light for me. Because it's so light, I'd recommend using earthquake tack if you live on a houseboat.
