Questions & Answers
It connects to the computer through the plastic cover with all of the holes. It does not work on my 360 slim, but it did on an older model. However, it is quite loud. It eventually calms down, but the fan start-up sequence is a whirlwind.
The automatic switching is based on the temperature. Only when the XBox is warm does it turn on. When the Xbox cools down, it automatically turns off.
It only connects to the 360's original controller.

The old fan was starting to become a little noisy after several years of use in a very bad environment with a lot of dust and sand. I cleaned it with canned air, and it did such a good job of keeping the Xbox 360 cool that I never had to worry about the red ring of death again. This resulted in the loss of two systems for me. Following the first, I sought out and used a variety of cooling fans. The majority of them were either too loud or didn't work at all. This cross-disciplinary collaboration The cooler performs admirably and does not hog a USB port or drain power, causing the system to overheat. I like that it has a temperature sensor and can run for a few seconds to a few minutes to keep air flowing through the system. In my opinion, this is a fantastic feature. br>br>Amazon should be ashamed of themselves for charging $75 for this. G was the person who sold it to me. JAPAN for $47, including free shipping from Japan. It took a few weeks to arrive, but it had to pass through customs and sit for who knows how long. If they have any more white ones for that price, I will definitely purchase another one.
I've had an Xbox 360 go red ring of death twice, and both times I had it repaired by a local friend, who informed me that the most recent failure was due to heat, despite the console being in a well-ventilated area. As a result, I went on the hunt for cooling solutions to extend the life of my console and came across the TS. The ability to work in a horizontal position (I saw the wreckage of a brand new copy of Call of Duty. ) and the ability to work in a vertical position (I saw the wreckage of a brand new copy of Call of Duty. ) are the two biggest draws. There is no longer any standing on its side for me, and I am no longer able to draw power from the console. br>br>The unit attaches to the back vents and increases the amount of power available to remove heat. The fans are performing admirably, based on the temperature of disks emerging from the tray after a few hours of use. br>br>My only gripe is the noise; most other reviews say it's not bad, which is true, but that doesn't mean it's quiet. The noise level is comparable to that produced when the built-in fans are turned up to their highest setting. It's loud enough to be distracting when watching videos, but because I play at a low volume, it doesn't interfere with gameplay. br>br>Because the console would make that much noise on its own, I'm not going to hold it against the Intercooler TS, but be aware of what you're getting. For the extended life of my 360, I think it's a good deal.
This will undoubtedly extend the life of my Xbox 360 and provide me with a sense of security. After unboxing the intercooler, I noticed the power cord is extremely long, which is great if you need to plug it in a long distance. I then turned on the xbox and ran a quick before and after test; after about 5 minutes, I put my hand to the back of the xbox (which I had never done before) and the air coming out was WEAK and WARM. I hooked up the intercooler and waited for it to turn on, which it did in less than a minute, and WOW, what a difference! It definitely outperforms the stock fan in terms of airflow. I felt the machine after an hour of playing and two hours of watching Netflix movies (3 hours total). It's cool to the touch, with a very small warm spot (presumably where the motherboard sits) that's all there is to it. I was extremely happy with the outcome. The best part was that when I turned off the xbox, the fan stayed on for a few minutes until all of the warm air was pushed out, then it turned off on its own. Buy it. br>br> It's an excellent investment!.
The first Intercoolers were a disaster, causing plastic to melt and voiding warranties. The EX improved this by using a metal plug for the power connector, but it still drained power from the X360 in its piggyback mode. It wasn't much better because of the back configuration. br>br>The Intercooler TS now has its own power source and is smaller and quieter than before. This is a nice little extra. Several times during a game session, my Intercooler switches on and off. I have a new "Jasper" X360 that runs a little hotter, so the Intercooler TS comes on for a while and then goes off. br>br>Fan- With the volume set to a comfortable level, the noise is barely audible from across the room. br>br>I still get up and check my console on a regular basis, and it's always cool to the touch now, which is fantastic for an X360. br>br>I believe MS has finally addressed the RRoD (overheat) issue with the newer chipsets, but the temperature sensing added fans can't hurt.
My Xbox 360 is an older model, and I've had the red ring of death twice, which caused my first control box to crash. The second model I purchased (like the first) has cooling issues, so I purchased one of these intercoolers right away. Over time, they become clogged with dust, slow down, and, more importantly, begin to whine as if a bearing or bushing is about to fail. It's incredibly simple to order a replacement from Amazon and have it delivered to my home. By the way, I've never had a problem or been afraid of the red ring of death because I always have an intercooler installed.
This product appears to do a good job of cooling down older XBox 360s that have overheating issues. Unfortunately, it is just as loud as, if not louder than, the Xbox. br>br>The tiny fans overheat when it first turns on. Like a bunch of crazed power drills, they rumble. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz After a while, the volume drops to a barely audible hum. It appears that the unit is broken if you are not prepared. Sheesh! br>br>Having owned the Intercooler TS for over a year, I can't say enough good things about it. Yes, the Xbox unit does not overheat, but it does so at the expense of upper-frequency hearing. I'm hoping there's a better option out there.
