Selected User Reviews For Hyperkin 3-In-1 HDTV Cable for GameCube/ N64/ Super NES

It's not that good by itself, but it's great when coupled with the I've been trying to convert everything from crt to HDMI because I play a lot of retro games but don't have the space to have a crt
3/5

On PS1/2, the xagent cable that converts RGB color to HDMI is a great value. Comparatively, this cable isn't as good as that one because it draws a low current Replace the audio signal with a video signal. The Nintendo 64 cannot output RGB without mods, so its fair to take this into account. I noticed that N64 and GameCube didn't look so great through this cable but that the svideo to hdmi converter I was using at the time wasn't as convenient. The cable I am using to play GameCube is far better looking than the one I am using to play GameCube through a softmoddified Wii U. On the other hand, it's about as good as it gets for the N64 A Retrotink 2X could work for you, or perhaps the Snes RGB to HDMI cable, but you'll have to install the RGB mod first. I also had a problem using the USB cable included as portion of the set. After I discovered it was not working, I was devastated. However, a different cable brought it back to life. I have updated An in-text link was added The hdmi scanner generator can be purchased on Amazon for 30 dollars. Since I prefer scanlines for everything that came before the HDMI game systems (PS3/XB360), the extra cost was worth it to me. Faux-playing my retro games is now my favorite thing to do HDTV set up on a cRT. I now feel the need to track down more cartridges I missed out on back in the day with the scanline generator and this cable, especially since the N64 benefits most from that.

It does exactly what it says, and the price is incredible
5/5

It is exactly what it should be doing It is inexpensive and easy to connect GameCube, N64, and SNES via HDMI to display on a modern screen. There is even a switch that allows one to switch the signal between 4 and 5 The following are the third and sixteenth numbers The following are a couple of important The device has two features 1) it runs off micro USB power
2) it comes with a USB-cable To assist with note #1
3), use a microUSB cable as follows The color output may not be 100% accurate (there may be too much blue tint in the output) It costs $150 or more for the They have an II only compatible with Generally, this can be summarized as follows If you're going to use any of these older consoles on a modern TV, this is the cable to get, since it works on 3 classic "retro" consoles, all for $30. The cost of the alternatives was actually much cheaper, so I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Investing $30 in video quality is the best investment you can make
5/5

There is a lot of criticism for these cables among retro gamers. The cables are technically better than other options, but they lack the appeal that other options have In the opinion of an enthusiast with high expectations of how their games should be displayed, they will not be happy with Retrotink, OSSC or Framemeister cables. If you are willing to spend hundreds of dollars to ensure that your setup is perfect then Foxconn cables will not be satisfactory. You may be very pleased with this cable if your expectations are more casual, and you just want a convenient way to connect your old consoles to your HDTV. There are two of these cables in my possession. With my N64, I use one. With my GameCube, I use the other. My experience with these cables has been extremely positive. The text looks sharp, the edges of objects are smooth, and the graphics look good in general. I also don't notice any latency for the most part. You can improve the video output of your N64, GameCube, and SNES for only $30 with these cables. If you want a step up from the composite video, but are reluctant to invest significantly, these cables are the best option.

Streaming can be done in a reasonable way with this option
4/5

Since I have experience streaming retro consoles, it has become increasingly difficult to capture them in high definition. Capturing on the N64 is even taller, but the cap is notoriously low it's often set to You can watch the video below in high By using a generic converter, you can convert from The quality of the video is no better than composite because the converter is of low quality as well as the N64's bilinear filtering, which limits Of the two options, the UltraHDMI kit removes bilinear filtering with the best quality, but since it is $160 to install yourself it is cumbersome Now, let's move on to The video output is poor, but how much of it can There is very little difference between the Hyperkin and the Eon, which is a good thing. The following is what happened at There are sharp pixels in the S- 3 resolution, which may be sharper than traditional S- pixels In the beginning, I bought this to fix a brightness issue with my upscaler, and on the SNES and N64, it works well without distinct pixels (I don't have The TV probably has its own lag here, which is why the lag is minimal. Unfortunately, the converter does not have enough power from the output to produce its own signal - it is only able to input. There's no better way to do that than with a Micro USB. I have not been able to work it without the USB. For some reason, the packaging tells me that it can be used without a USB. In that case, you can get around it with a USB outlet you can obtain for around $5 The RetroTink doesn't have audio peaking, but it's (currently) $100 cheaper than Eon's solution, making it a good alternative to the retrotink without audio peaking for those who don't need RGB for their SNES. Likewise, a better option is available for GCN, but this is an extremely versatile cable if you wish to use the same cable for all three consoles at the same time. It is time to get rid of micro USBs/10.

It's a great idea, but the design is flawed or the parts are cheap
3/5

It started to fail after 30 days due to its low quality You will need 45 minutes to complete the course. In a few minutes the audio began crackling on and off and within a short while, the audio turned into noise. Based on several other complaints of failure, I would say that the board design is flawed and the parts would be overheating and dying. The fact that others of hyperkin's products have been good to me is sad. I'm going to look for a pound HDMI cable that's about the same size as the Xbox cable and dreamcast cable that I'm quite satisfied.
