Keep your eyes peeled.
This is merely the console's shell. There are no games, no operating system, and no monitors. The Gameboy color shell and generic aftermarket buttons are all that is included.
Thank you for including both gray and red buttons.
Yes! Keep your eyes peeled.

Corner radii on battery door are incorrect, will not fit factory battery doors, inner detail on lanyard loop is missing, screw slots in middle have had their outer perimeter lowered, and the most glaring point for me is that this features The Great Wave off Kanagawa print by the artist Hokusai, but the included reproduction sticker shows the cgb-cgb-cgb-cgb-cgb-cgb-cgb-cgb-cgb jpn- 2 factory mark, but it says "made in China" right next to it. For something as uniquely Japanese as Hokusai's art work emblazoned on a cultural milestone for Japan as the Gameboy, it's a little off-putting. Please respect the art's heritage, both modern and ancient, if you're going to make a reproduction.
This shell was used in a GBC restoration that I modified. The soft touch exterior's handfeel is probably the best feature of the shell, as it feels premium and comfortable in the hand. There are no creaks or clicks in the plastic as well. I'll list a few of the shell's quirks, which some may regard as flaws, for you perfectionists. The white color isn't exactly cool optical white, but it isn't horribly off-kilter either. The color may be white or yellowed. The battery door was a slightly lighter shade of white than the rest of the body (the front and back halves were identical in color). Because the finish isn't the most durable, I wouldn't recommend it if you're going to be rough with your handhelds. The finish appears to absorb color transfer as well, so wiping it with a black microfiber cloth and isopropyl alcohol leaves a large black smudge. Only use white tissue to wipe this down; no colored tissue is recommended. Overall, if you plan on doing a simple reshell, it's a good value for the money. Consider purchasing if you want a specific look, plan to heavily modify it, or require a very durable exterior. Overall, I'm planning to buy more of these shells in the future. Please be aware that the following information is public. I paid full price for this product and was not compensated for my time, but I was given a small discount in exchange for an honest review.
This is the second time I've ordered one of these shells, and I must say, I'm impressed. Although the shell isn't perfect, the plastic is of good quality, and the finish (at least on the Chameleon shell) is very nice. With this order, I noticed that the screen lens has been upgraded from plastic to glass, which is a welcome change! I didn't use it in this build, but I'm sure I'll find a use for it in the future! In the future, I will undoubtedly purchase again. Next time, I'll probably look into the other options. br>br>Update: I purchased a new shell, this time with a Red SoftTouch finish - The second chameleon finish shell I bought had a plastic lens instead of a glass lens. Inconsistent behavior. I'm guessing it'll be a plastic lens. Perhaps you'll be lucky and instead receive a glass lens. For that reason, I deducted a star. br>br>Update number two: Soft- With what I consider to be fairly light use, the touch finish appears to be rubbing off quickly. A bit of a letdown. I've added some photos to show how worn it is.
My GBC's old shell was teal, and it had clearly been chewed on by a dog. My lens had also become scratched. This kit was simple to put together and allowed me to clean out all of the gunk from the inside, making my Gameboy feel like new again. I like how soft it is, and the pink color is adorable. br>br>My only criticism is that the included lens appears to be easily scratched. I've only had it for a day and have been very gentle with it, but there is already a small mark on it.
The quality of the shell is good, but there are a few flaws to be aware of. When it came to installing my GBC board, the tightness of the plastic was a problem, so I went from a backlit to a non-backlit system. The display window surround tolerance was off, requiring a backlit system. I installed an aftermarket power switch (I went with an all-in-one solution). Theme: white! The thickness of the plastic makes it extremely difficult to move. br>br>It's important to note that the soft- Some of the speaker holes may or may not be filled with rubber, and the touch coating is imperfect. To make them look more uniform, I had to open them all up with an exacto knife. Last but not least, the included buttons are responsive. or miss. The A/B buttons have a matte finish that differs from the stock version, and the IR window is simply a solid grey plastic, so IR capabilities are unlikely to work with this shell unless you bring your IR window from a stock GBC over. Finally, the screw set I received was a complete mishmash. approximately 4 tri- wing (3 of one length, one of another), 2 philips (for the battery bay screws), and 3 other philips (for the board, of course). br>br>This is a promising case on the market, and if you need a complete kit for a GBC rebuild, it's a good choice given that it includes silicone, buttons, and screwdrivers. However, it falls short of the original Nintendo plastic quality and consistency, as do most aftermarket shells.
Installation is relatively simple. All of the extras were included in the housing, including buttons, membrane pads, switches, and even screws, which was a nice touch. All of the parts fit together well, with the exception of the right side ridges, which were slightly out of alignment. I did use a craft knife to shave some of the edges of the directional membrane and remove excess rubber. It looks like an authentic Gameboy Color with the metal shield and product label sticker, and the soft touch is pleasant to play with.
