When I got stuck in this game, I had a lot of fun. The first part of the game (the coliseum) will only open up after you beat this barrel game. In the game, you have to break a certain number of barrels in a short period of time, then beat multiple levels like that in succession, and if you fail, you go all the way back to the beginning and have to try I stopped playing the barrel game that very day because it was ridiculously hard. Once I attempted to advance to a new level, only to fail, then back down to the first level again, the game became increasingly unplayable. When I was at the point where I had to beat super bosses on certain worlds before taking on the big boss at the end, I had to beat all of them.
