This is for my granddaughter, who was 8 1/2 years old when I bought it for her. According to the picture on Amazon, it did look like the one I was looking at. It was great to be able to open the zippered pouch so that she could see all of the stages of a Over the years, I have purchased many of these Folkmanis puppets for my twin granddaughters, and all of them have Thank you for your question. I hope this helps.
Although I have never had to wash mine though, I saw on the label that my puppet is made out of polyester fiber, polyurethane foam, and Cold water can be used to wash the surface, air drying is recommended. It does not sound like it can be machine washed. Unless it is very dirty, perhaps a few drops of cold water will wash it off - Is dried out. It may be of help to you.

This is a different type of puppet the wings of the adult fit over your hands. compartments, each with a zipper, where the different phases are housed. As previous reviews mentioned, it can be a little difficult to switch from one stage to another, but after a while, I've gotten into the same position the real butterfly does! Added to the realism were a couple of small black pompoms inside of the My strategy is to drop all of those pompoms on the table as soon as I rotate the caterpillar into the chrysalis stage so that this emphasizes I love that the kids enjoy it so much! The wings of the butterfly are crumpled just like the ones on a real butterfly when I pull it out of the chrysalis! After that, I used the pockets in the wings to straighten out the What a great idea!.
I was considering tying this into a coming butterfly unit in our homeschooling, and I thought this would be just perfect since this is a transforming butterfly puppet and how cool is that? There's something beautiful about this I am absolutely certain that it is 5/5 stars in I like the soft material and the size is great! Despite my huge hands, I was able to easily fit in and play with the wings due to them being soft and floppy. This little teddy bear is so adorable, with the delicate wings and eyes, not to mention the darling little hairs. I liked the thoughtfulness of the little hook at the top so you could hang it like the real thing if you want. The chrysalis stage appears to be rather basic, but the hook at the top is a great addition. It is also cute to see caterpillars in this stage. It is a basic speaker with an antennae on either end. It's fat, chunky, and basic. Even though the shape is really like a lump, there are no legs, but the pattern is identifiable, so I doubt that most people would find it offensive. It is the execution of the transformations of the product that is the real issue. The more time I spent working on it the more intuitive it became as I learned how and where to push things. In order for the pouch to zip properly, the butterfly wings cannot be just stuffed inside and then expected to work. When it comes to folding this thing up and zipping it up, there is no room for error - there is no wiggle room. The convenience of having my son do the testing helped to demonstrate how easy it was to change. It was a hit with him! The kid worked really hard on it, but it was still quite a challenge. It wasn't just his fine motor skills either, as this kid has advanced skills. There was no doubt that this was At the end of the day, I expect frustration on the part of the child, who is trying to transform himself, and the frustration on the part of the parent who is constantly asked to stop doing An excellent teaching tool for classrooms and nature centers, this product is perfect for both. However, I had to return this product even though my son absolutely loved it despite his frustration with the transformations, since the cost was just too high even for us to use even in our classroom. * * *UPDATE Ultimately my kiddo and I kept it, because even a year later he would not stop asking for it, and we were studying life cycles, so it made sense to hang onto it. It's been a hit with the kids and parents alike, and I am glad I did it. They love it, and I keep getting requests for where they can get it for their kids as well. I think it becomes easier to transform the puppet once it has broken in a little We ordered this one and that one, so maybe that was part of the problem. Also, the zipper on this one is better than the first one we ordered. While there is still no wiggle room, and it still takes some help changing, it's a great idea. The rating has been updated.
In addition to learning about the life cycle of the monarch, I was excited to give this to my granddaughter. It was important to me that she be old enough to understand it and have the opportunity to play with it when she turned 4. Sadly, it is too difficult for small hands to handle. It was incredibly difficult to figure how the various pieces fit into the small zipper pouches, and even I found it challenging to transition from one phase to another. There are no instructions, explanations, or anything else included with the clear plastic bag the product comes in. This would have been the best grade I could have hoped for I expected a quality and fun toy, but this failed on both counts.
Those who love. For Halloween, my daughter dressed as a monarch butterfly and was thrilled to carry around a caterpillar toy. My wife and I love this book! This purchase was a bit of a splurge, but the details and educational benefits make it well worth it in our opinion. A scent glad spot was observed on the butterfly by my daughter There is a male on the loose! This was her declaration. Chrysalis and caterpillar both have gold trim in real life, and even the stripes on the caterpillar are as real as can be! I think it's cute, thoughtfully designed, and well made!.
I think this puppet is well-made and of a high quality, which you can count on lasting for As an illustration of the work God does in the lives of those who follow Him, we used the story. In the process of changing from caterpillar to crysalis to butterfly, the puppet was initially somewhat stiff, but once softened up, it easily handled the changes. When wrapping the butterfly into its crysalis, it helps to fold its wings into the biggest part of the structure. Additionally, it is helpful if you close the zippers until you are ready to reopen them.
There is a lot of thought that went into making the Monarch butterfly puppet look You can even drink nectar from its proboscis, which is a hollow tube with a long hollow tube on the end! This Monarch butterfly puppet was a part of my Library's summer reading program which focused on pollinators. I used both of Folkmanis' bee and hummingbird puppets in my lesson. Taking into account the size of the puppet, it was easy to see parts of the insects' bodies There's an antennae and proboscis on the head, legs attached to the thorax and an By viewing the butterfly puppet, the children gained an appreciation for the beauty of a Monarch butterfly and were encouraged to plant milkweed seeds, a host plant for Monarchs, to achieve a better future for these beautiful creatures.
An excellent illustration of the point is provided by this quote. The pictures are wonderful because they depict the three different ones of a butterfly, that is to say. It is the caterpillar, which turns into a chrysalis, and the butterfly which emerges. I find this to be absolutely brilliant!.
