A destroyed object will be disposed of. The garment was first washed on cold and delicate, then tumble dried on cool air for 10 minutes, and it came out completely destroyed (see pictures). It has not happened with the other wildkin we have that has big polka dots that we have washed eight times so far. There's a lot of risk involved in buying another one as it's near $50, and I have no idea whether it'll be good or bad. Neither my toddler nor I were happy to hear that.
The bag is awesome! I love love love it! There's no need for a separate machine- This pillow is attached to the padded mat and the blanket is attached to the other end of the blanket. All this rolls up very easily and is secured by Velcro. There is no other way I could express my gratitude! This is soft, comfortable, and easy enough to roll up on its own that my 4 year old can do it. The perfect naptime companion for sleepovers and school time! A poor quality material is used in the sleeping bags. The outer "flannel" side of this cover is already pilling after a single wash, and the inner side is not soft at all. One of the worst parts is that the stuffing doesn't have any stitching, so after you wash it you will have to spend an hour trying to distribute the filling inside so it doesn't become clumpy after it dried.
I think that it's okay for a 4 year old because of the small pillow that comes with it. If we use the pillow at home, she uses her own pillow, but when we go to Nana and Papa's, she likes to use it. Although Texas doesn't experience many cold nights, when we do, when my daughter wants to sleep in her tent, this seems to keep her comfortable.
I am very, very disappointed with the size of the pillow. The sleeping bag age specification is not in accordance with the size of the sleeping bag. Sleeping bags are generally soft and flannel-lined inside, but are quite stiff and rough outside. When I read another review, I saw that the sleeping bag fell apart in the washing machine after being washed gently. Also, I thought I would wash it, but I read it fell apart in the gentle cycle. Can you imagine the humour when small children have to use a sleeping bag that is not washable? That explains why I couldn't find instructions on how to wash it. A very disappointing experience. This pattern/design is very cute, and the price looks reasonable at first, but the quality is not as high as I expected.
This item is intended for a one year old. When the children are at daycare, they nap. There are other brands I have seen in person that are thinner. There is a good deal of thickness and softness in this. Another Wildkin sleeping bag I have had for over two years has held up well to monthly cleaning with agitator and gentle cycle on my top loader washing machine (the instructions I follow say to clean with As I always hang to dry, I haven't experienced any issue. The only downside is it is heavier and larger than the cheaper brands, which makes it awkward to carry to daycare each It is better, however, to have something comfortable to sleep on for my kids.
The update is Since I bought this sleeping bag a year and a half ago, I've used it a lot. I wash it every week and use it every day for nap time. It has been used for me for a year now, and is still in great Any parent with a child should get one of these over a cheap nylon bag any time! Even though it's supposed to be youth size, it's terrible big. I'd be stupid not to use it. The inner lining gets all bunched up in the washer/dryer but I just hold it up by the outer edges and it falls back into place. I have washed it every week for the last 4 months without any noticeable pilling or tearing seams, fadings, etc. To finish it off, I perform a final short dry cycle.
