There are some that are pretty flat, and there are some that are pretty tall. The purple step is the tallest it's no taller than an average stair step.

I hesitated about buying these because they were so much less expensive than others, but the quality is good, and they are great for the price! During the time since we got them, my 5 year old has played on them every day, and her 200 lb father has also played on them. I find it to be the ideal therapy tool. My (typical) six year old son loves to play "The Floor is Lava" with this because it is reasonably priced, stacks well, and is easy to store. The book is great for children of all ages. This was a great time!.
