I used to have the old fashioned ropes when I was a kid, just like these ropes. The handles are made from wood and the rope is real, so the weight, which is perfect for jumping, is great. The rope is protected from wear by a plastic cover at the bottom of it. By using the wooden handles, you can easily shorten the rope. In just a few days, my five-year-old granddaughter was able to jump without much difficulty.

There is a horrible smell coming from the ropes, so I took one star off. My jeans have been washed multiple times, yet their smell still lingers. The smell of this product makes me recommend it to be used outdoors rather than indoors.

Within five minutes, my daughter had broken the handle of the jump rope and was in the house with it. It was a very disappointing experience.

That smell is weird. I thought it would fade away, but it does not seem to have gone away. I don't know if it's a coating, but it smells like chemical or plastic type stuff.

As a short person, most jump ropes are way too long for me, so you'll be glad to hear that I have an adjustable jump rope. The instructions didn't come with it so it was a little tricky to figure out, but it's now working fine.

Since the rope is heavy enough for children to be able to jump with momentum, my 7-year-old grand daughter was thrilled to have them. Despite being the perfect size for a child while still being large enough for an adult to handle, the wooden handles are easy to grip. 72 and I did some rope skiing with the rope when I was young. I like these two pairs of jump ropes as one stays at my house while the other goes home with my daughter. As of now, everything is going well. Although I just received the jumps a few days ago, I cannot comment on their durability yet.
