Does the job - It's easier to color half of the lace a different color at first, which worked for my kids
4/5

However, with a few minor tweaks, it could be much better - br>1) A lace that is half one color and half another would be useful to help the child distinguish between the two sides while manipulating the lace to make the bow - In an ideal world, they would include the single-parent family. Color lace is also available, so children can progress from half-and-half lace to full-lace. I used a permanent marker to write on one side of our lace, but let's just say it rubs off, despite the fact that I used a well-known brand. brand marker, so when they're finished, my kids' hands look like they've wrapped a kitchen in newsprint. br>2) a person who is not a member of a religious organization. It would be beneficial to have a slip-resistant bottom.

Now is the time to purchase
5/5

LOVE LOVE LOVE this song. This shoe is everything! I work with autistic children, and this shoe is everything! We've been working on tying shoes in steps for a while now, and we've finally seen some progress! This shoe appeals to me because it is cleaner than using your regular walking shoe for practice, and it is heavy enough to stay put and work with at a table.

This is a fantastic occupational therapy product! When teaching children how to tie their shoes, this is a fun and engaging tool to use in occupational therapy
5/5

Melissa has always been one of my favorite people. Doug has a wide range of products, from toys to puzzles. Occupational therapists use them a lot when working with adults and children. The laces are simple for children to manipulate and grasp. Adults frequently compliment the shoe's modern/retro style, which appeals to people of all ages. Thank you for creating such a wonderful, adorable, and affordable product; it is exactly what I was looking for!.

This shoe is great for kids to practice on! One tip I learned from an online site is to lace it up first, then tie it in the traditional manner
5/5

Tie a knot when you get to the part where the lace needs to go through the hole next to the loop. It quells the kids and encourages them to tie their shoes tighter right away; another tip is to make sure the shoe points away from the student, just like theirs does. They can then practice how to help others once they've mastered this. This is what I use for K-level students. Students with special needs in second grade. It's fantastic!.

This was a really sweet little present for our niece
4/5

This was a really sweet little present for our niece. She was three years old and seemed a little young for the "learn to tie your shoes" aspect of it, but she enjoyed playing with it as a wooden shoe toy. For the time being, we removed the lace for her to play with, and she still enjoys it. Melissa is someone I admire a lot. Doug toys are fun to play with because they don't require batteries and don't have lights or music. br>br>On a side note, it's a bit heavy and clumsy. I suppose that means it's well-made, but I couldn't help but imagine toddlers whacking each other in the head with it. It appears to have the potential to be harmful.

The shoe, not the lace, is what I'm in love with
5/5

Little hands will struggle with the shoelace. I used a wide, flat lace instead of ours. The replacement didn't lace up the top, but that's beside the point when it comes to shoe tying. Other reviews stated that they should have simply worn a shoe at home. I am not convinced. Velcro is only worn by my son until he can tie his own shoes. I'm not going to give him a pair of old adult shoes to play with. In the future, I will be able to use this for my special needs child. He was able to complete step one in a matter of minutes with the new flat lace. With the original lace, he was unable to do anything.

Love it
5/5

I love pretty much every Melissa and Doug toy they make, so I can't claim to be objective, but this wooden shoe is one of my favorites. It may appear simple, but it makes teaching all of my daycare children and my own 5-year-old daughter how to tie their shoes a lot easier, and it also means I don't have to put a dirty shoe on my table. The only thing that could improve it is if it were heavier to keep it on the table while they pull on the laces, but that's a minor quibble.
