Questions & Answers

Is it possible to purchase additional wood-like pieces to complement the set? If you can only construct one thing, it's a bit ridiculous. Thank you all so much! ?

Yes, it is somewhat absurd to construct a single object. I'm still stumped as to where I'm going to put the nails. It isn't, however, lego. I plan to make more pieces out of real wood with real tools. Sawing and drilling are two of my daughter's favorite activities.

What makes this one different from the $100 version?

All of them were compared by me. The saw on the side did not appeal to me; my grandson is more interested in tools than in woodworking. That was the major distinction I noticed. I checked eBay as well, but this was the best deal.

The drill press is supposed to move up and down, according to the description. Is the miter saw also able to move up and down, or does it simply spin? Is the vice also capable of opening and closing?

The vice handle spins, but it does not open. The miter saw cuts the fake wood in half, which is made up of two pieces velcroed together. To make holes in the wood, the drill pushes plugs out.

Is the drill secured to the workbench or will it come loose and be carried around?

Attached. It's not a hand drill, but a drill press.

LISTEN TO ME WHEN I SAY YOU SHOULD NOT PURCHASE THIS
3/5

THIS IS NOT A GOOD ITEM TO BUY. My two sons were heartbroken over the holidays. We bought two because we knew they'd want to "fix" things together with the tools. They were simple to put together, but when the boys went to play with them on Christmas Day, we discovered that one drill and one saw (from separate units!) were not working. The second drill then broke after only 10 minutes of play. As a result, neither drill works on either bench. We changed the batteries several times, including brand new ones, but nothing changed. br>br>In addition, the plastic is extremely flimsy and undurable. The drill is useless because the holes for the screws are useless. The "phone" is nothing more than a cheap piece of plastic with no function. The Vice grip is also ineffective because it does not work. Also, turning on and off the light is difficult (my kids adore buttons!). Instead of turning the light on and off for the boys, I have to turn it on and off for them, defeating the purpose of independent play. br>br>In general, this is a good purchase if you want to throw something into the landfill. It's a pity and a tragedy.

THERE ARE NOT 75 ACCESSORIES AND TOOLS
3/5

I bought the black one. For Christmas, I bought a Decker Junior Power Tool Workshop for my grandson. It was just put together by me. 75 tools and accessories are listed on the box. I didn't get 75 tools and accessories with mine, and after putting it together, I only have about 30 to play with. There are a lot more items on the box than the ones I got. br>br>Playing tools and accessories: br>Hammerbr>Wrenchbr>Screwdriverbr>Hand sawbr>Vicebr>Drill pressbr>Worklightbr>Adjusterbr>Phonebr>Miter sawbr>3 screwsbr>5 nailsbr>3 nutsbr>2 splitting woodbr>Toolbox (6 pieces)br>br> I'm not getting it. I don't even have half of that many tools and accessories! I bought it because it promised more accessories than most other sets, but I'm disappointed that it didn't come with more play items. However, if you count every piece in the whole thing, you'll end up with 76 items, but how will you have a workbench if you mess around with all the parts that hold it together? Because the legs have a few holes, I'm sure they count that as an "accessory," but really? I just wish it said what it IMPLIED it said. PROS: br>br> It appears to be well-made, and I believe my grandson will enjoy playing with it, but I am not fond of the misleading advertising.

With a few flaws, it's a fantastic toy! Before I bought this, I read a lot of reviews, and I have to say that the vast majority of them were correct
4/5

The tools are a hit with the kids (especially the boys) at my home-based childcare! They're still a hit even though I haven't put batteries in any of them yet. We've had it for about two weeks, and the saw-apart pieces of wood (Velcro) are a big hit! I was a little disappointed that the vice clamp didn't actually open and close because I knew someone who had one of these tool benches that did, but I can see how that could have been a pinching hazard, so I understand why they now just make noise. The following are a few drawbacks I'd like to point out: The light is essentially useless (after all, why would you attach a work light to the bench's surface?). I believe it should be attached somewhere near the top of the back board and should not be as large as it is now. Also, as other reviews have stated, it does not maintain its position. It could easily pass for a toy snake. Then there's the wooden toy. It's great that there's a project to work on, but couldn't you make it so that you could attach the pieces in other ways, with threading in the holes to hold screws? It's simply tedious that there is only one thing you can build with them. Last but not least, there's the matter of the nails. If all the kids do is fall into the hole, how can they learn to hammer nails? There's room for improvement, in my opinion. Overall, this is a fantastic toy, and the kids usually just pretend to fix the trucks and other toys we have, which is also a lot of fun!
Edit: As a suggestion to the manufacturer, it would be nice if individual replacement tools could be purchased, as some have broken.

The LEDs don't work, and the quality isn't what I expected
3/5

I bought this and another similar set a few weeks ago, one for each of my grandchildren. Tomorrow is the birthday of the second grandson, so I'm putting this together today so that he can enjoy it tomorrow. I put the batteries in the saw, light, and drill press, and everything worked fine. All of them worked at first, but the drill press's LEDs only lit up once and then went dark. When you pull the lever, the drill press bit rotates, but the LEDs no longer light up. It's finished. br>br>I emailed the manufacturer at consumers@jakks. com, which was listed on the instruction sheet. com to request a replacement drill press, but the email was returned with a permanent failure a short time later, indicating that the address was invalid. br>br>So far, I'm not impressed with the product or the customer service. For the price, the entire product could be of higher quality, and it would be ideal if the LEDs lasted longer than 30 seconds.
