A washer of this size would work well for American Girl dolls and clothing. My grandchildren love to play with it even though it doesn't really wash them or cause them to get wet.

I love how cute it looks. This is a toy kitchen I bought for my 3 year old daughter who loves to play with her dolls in the toy kitchen. There are a handful of newborn socks that "she washes" A cup of water CAN NOT be added to a cup of tea. Along with a soap box and a tiny laundry basket, the set comes with laundry supplies. The toy lights up, produces a lot of sound, and spins if you add batteries to it. The device has a hand crank that you can use if there are no batteries. In order to operate with batteries, you need to remove the hand crank. The blade does not hurt my daughter when she opens it while it is spinning. The door is open during this period, and it stops spinning. Clothes are not actually washed by it. I really love this one and it's worth every penny!.

It was a big hit with my son and he used it quite a bit to wash his old clothes and socks. Sadly, after buying it a month or so later, we discovered that the drum had stopped rotating. As previously mentioned, you can still manually spin the drum with the crank on the back. Even after all these years, it still makes all the noises Although the drum still spins on its own, it no longer does. Changed the batteries, but they still didn't work. Often you need to help it get started by manually cranking the washer once or twice after pressing one of the wash buttons. The machine will spin a bit, but you can hear the motor making a noise that sounds as if it is struggling to complete the service. The toy is still fun to play with so it's a good toy. I am disappointed however, since it happened so soon after it was installed. During that period, we could do a return or exchange through Amazon (and only days after that).
