Questions & Answers

Are there any versions of Jesus that aren't white?

For the following reasons, I've chosen to purchase the BibleToys children's Nativity set (available on Amazon and elsewhere). My husband and I are both white, and my adopted daughter, her boyfriend, and their child are Hispanic/Haitian/Bahamian. I believe it is critical for my grandson to interact with people and play with toys that depict a diverse world in which he can feel at ease. Because I believe that the central character of the Nativity Story is baby Jesus, but the rest of the characters are adults, I appreciate that Bible Toys depicts the adults as adults. As a brown-haired woman, I've always despised the old stories in which the perfect girl had blonde hair, so I appreciate Mary's dark locks. On the forehead of Jesus, there is a dark curl. Josephs has the darkest skin of the group and has a coffee-colored complexion. The other characters have a variety of skin tones, none of which are particularly dark, and none of whom have blonde hair. The two angels, one with blonde hair and the other with brown hair, appear to be white Europeans. The other people's faces lack Western European characteristics. When I first saw them, I had the impression that they were from another country. Two shepherds, a sheep, and a ram are included in this set, and each shepherd has a staff (which could be bitten off by a small child). Little People sells a replacement character dressed in Joseph's clothes who can be used to replace Joseph or as a shepherd without a staff but dressed in Joseph's colors. It costs $15 to buy just one character. A larger set with shepherds is available, but it costs about twice as much. One thing I had to consider is that the baby Jesus in the Bible Toys set is a swaddled baby who can be removed from the manger, making it a small object with choking potential for young children. The set is suitable for children aged three years and upwards. They also don't sell a replacement Jesus, so there's a chance you'll end up with a Nativity that's missing one - This is not very practical. I'm thinking about sticking the baby in the manger with glue. I've read a lot of the comments below and wanted to share this information with anyone looking for more historically accurate characters or characters that their child or grandchild can relate to. I believe that everyone should have a choice, and I believe that the Little People did us a disservice by leaving shepherds out of this set when they do make a set with shepherds. Instead of the cart, I think it would be a better story to have two shepherds and two sheep. As far as I recall, there were definitely shepherds in the story, but no mention of a cart. The Bible Toys set is slightly more expensive, around $32 including shipping. I am not employed by BibleToys. Because of the reasons stated above, I was more drawn to their set. All of you have a wonderful Christmas. What a blessing that so many children are receiving Nativity sets at a time when so much of the world around us (in the United States) is in turmoil. The story of Jesus is told from the bottom up.

What is the reason for the lack of shepherds?

There is one with a shepherd, which looks similar to this set but has more pieces and is much more expensive; you can find it here on Amazon.

Is it possible to disassemble the manger for easy storage? Is it going to be difficult to keep track of this? (I'm a big fan of the idea - however, a nyc apartment is synonymous with a lack of space)?

No, you can keep it in its original packaging. The box is 13 inches long and 13 inches wide. 1" x 6" 8" x 7" 5 inches

I'm trying to figure out how to get the one from Baker to play music and light up. book. house?

I paid $18 plus $5 tax/shipping for this item on Family Christian's website. It is priced at $30, but I used a 40% off coupon that is fairly often available. My set was brand new and in its original Fisher-Price packaging. It's a price box, and it's exactly what it says on the tin- Plays music and turns on the lights.

It appears that this is a ruse
3/5

I recently received the shipment and discovered that some items were missing. br>The box had been sealed completely. So I'm stumped as to why I couldn't find one wise man (dressed in red), the camel, or the load on the donkey's cart. br>I need answers. It appears that this is a ruse.

It's cute, but there are a few flaws in it that I'd like to point out
4/5

This is adorable, and my 11-year-old daughter will love it. month- It's a big hit with my 12-year-old grandson. Every day, he engages in some sort of activity with it. However, I am disappointed that Fisher Price no longer produces the building with all of the figures. My children had a barn, a school, Main Street, and other structures in which all of the figures and furnishings could be stored. br>I'd prefer the skin tones of the figures to be a little more varied. Finally, the set was pricey, and I believe that instead of being sold separately, a few shepherds and sheep could have been included.

Christmas tradition that I enjoy the most
5/5

This Nativity scene has become a new Christmas tradition for our family. It's similar to an advent calendar, except that every morning when the kids wake up, a new piece of the scene is waiting for them on the coffee table. On December 1, I start with just the manger, then add a palm tree on the second, a cart on the third, and so on, all the way up to Joseph on the 23rd, Mary on the 24th, and finally baby Jesus on Christmas morning. Because there are only 17 pieces in this set, you'll need to order one or two extra small sets (like shepherds or wise men) to make it a 25-piece set, or you could add books or other fun Christmas items on your own, OR you could just start on the 8th instead of the 1st, which is a lot of fun to watch the kids wake up and rush to the coffee table to see what has appeared overnight.

I looked for a cheaper option, but I'm glad I chose this one! I wish I could have found it for a lower price, but I'm glad we went with this one
5/5

The angel (or Jesus) is placed by the toddlers. lamb. Away in a Manger plays on top of the stable roof (and if batteries have been installed). It's a very long-lasting set. It is also suitable for babies and toddlers. This set is a huge hit with my grandchildren! It was borrowed by my daughter on Christmas Eve so she could tell the children the Nativity Story before they went to bed. Next year, I'm guessing we'll need a new set. ) I chose this set because of the palm trees and the fact that it includes two donkeys and a cart with a produce basket that the kids can remove, as well as three wise men and no shepherds. That makes no sense to me, because the wise men didn't arrive until Jesus was only a toddler. Even so, you could pretend that one of the wise men is a shepherd, leaving you with only two wise men. Shepherd(S) is an absolute must for this set. Pawpaw and I, on the other hand, are overjoyed. Thank you once more, Fisher Price!.

It's not just a toy, either! A few years ago, my wife and I bought one similar to this for our great granddaughter
5/5

We put it up during the Christmas season on a special table I made just for this nativity. Her re-emergence has been fascinating to watch. Over and over, rearrange the characters. She arranges all of the human characters in a semi-random order. Their attention is drawn to the Christ child as they form a circle. Behind them, the animals are arranged; However, everyone is focused on Jesus. My great niece is getting a nativity, and we're hoping it will bring her and her family closer to Jesus as well.

Although some reviews claim that the people are of poor quality, they have all stood up to her scrutiny
5/5

This set is a hit with my 9-month-old, who has been playing with it and chewing on it for the past two months. Some reviews say the people aren't of good quality, but they've all held up to her gnawing on them with her tiny teeth without peeling paint. Away in a Manger, which the stable plays, is a really nice song, not obnoxious and high-pitched like some of the baby toys we've had in the past. br>br>There are a few things about this set that irritate me:br>- The food does not fit properly in the cart; it jiggles around and appears out of place. br>- Jesus' baby hair is blonde. br>- I wish there were two separate pieces to play Joseph and a shepherd, but those minor differences aren't things my baby would notice. br>br>But those minor differences aren't things my baby would notice. Overall, it's a lovely set with a lot of small details, such as the various shapes of the gifts each wise man carries. I believe it will continue to develop alongside her for many years.

Shepherds were not present
3/5

The wise men were not present on the night of Jesus' birth, but the shepherds were. This play set, however, does not include any shepherds. I ordered this late at night and didn't notice until after I opened it all up that I had missed that when I ordered it. It was only after I had recycled the box that I realized what had happened - Shepherds are not present: (I bought this to go with the book The Donkey in the Living Room, which you can do with the kids in the lead up to Christmas and you need a shepherd, so I had to go on eBay and find a discontinued shepherd figure for $17! Why - Why are there no shepherds despite the presence of two donkeys, an extra hay manger, a cart, and a box of fruit? Others should take note: I also noticed that Amazon has a Little People Noah figure ($13, new) that you could use instead of a shepherd if you're not picky. I wanted a figure with brown skin, and it appears that the shepherd, which is no longer available, has brown skin. I went with that because I have a ish skin tone.

Adorable and colorful Nativity set, perfect for collectors and families
5/5

I bought it as a birthday present for my mother. She has a thing for Nativity sets, and she'd had her eye on the Fisher Price version for a while, and who could blame her? It's a sweet set that's both cute and colorful, plus it's kid-friendly. When the grandkids come to visit and want to reminisce, this is the perfect place for them to do so. re-enact the Nativity story in their own homes. The pieces are well-crafted. br>br> Made with bright colors and metallic accents, it's adorable and durable. The fence pieces snap into place on the stable or stand alone, and the cart attaches to the back of the donkey. The angel can stand alone or atop the stable, and there's even a button that turns on the star above the manger and plays a verse from "Away in a Manger. " "br>br>The only disadvantage of this set is that it does not include shepherds - The Holy Family (Mary, Joseph, and Jesus), an angel, four stable animals (donkey, cow, sheep, and camel), and three Wise Men are all depicted. Shepherds appear to be available individually, as a sort of "booster pack. " br>br>A sweet and kid-friendly story. friendly Nativity set, which my mother adores and which I think would make a lovely holiday decoration. Families will enjoy it.
