My child played with me sitting next to her because there was no other way to tell if he or she was progressing. Parents, in my opinion, must be involved in helping their children with math, reading, or whatever subject they are having difficulty with. Isn't that exactly what parenting is about, guiding and assisting?
A standard screwdriver will not fit in this space. I have a small screwdriver that I bought specifically for small projects like this. (It's similar to the one you'd use to hang towel racks on the wall.) I hope this helps!
I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what you're talking about. For the past 11 years, I've been retired. However, I believe there was a choice to reduce all facts to ten, twenty, and so on.

I love this product, and it's the only thing that's helped my child learn his math facts. My ONLY criticism is that the screen (as everyone else has said) is small and difficult to read, and the font appears to be from the beginning. computer- era. br>I ordered this from Amazon for my child who needed to learn multiplication'math facts' but hadn't mastered them yet, and her class was moving on to more difficult things, which multiplication was a foundation for. I tried flash cards and a slew of apps, both free and paid, but nothing worked - Alternatively, the app could be entertaining but ineffective at teaching math facts. br>After a tutor told me that the only problem I had was memorizing math facts, I finally bought it. I suddenly realized that the money I had set aside for a math tutor was far more than I had intended to spend on this educational toy. br>I purchased it, and my child had almost completely mastered her 0 - 10 multiplication within a week. She knew about half of the numbers, but she couldn't figure out the other half. I force her to use the math shark on a daily basis. I make her do different numbers on her own (under level 1 or 2), then the machine times her and I write the time down on a chart so she can see how much better she is getting with each number she learns. The positive reinforcement and realization that once you've mastered your math facts, this can be a lot of fun - Her confidence and attitude toward math have soared as a result of the snowball effect. I'm in a good mood right now - My child is almost caught up, and I believe that this product has saved us a lot of time and effort this school year. Everyone should read it, in my opinion. br>We haven't tried division yet, but it's on our list of things to try. br>In future versions of the shark math, I think the company that makes it should update the screen (to make it easier to read), add a'memorization' function so that the machine keeps track of how quickly kids are learning, and make it easier to use, if possible (it's not impossible to use, but I had to read over the directions). But, overall, I'm very pleased and relieved that we discovered this.
My older child has Asperger's Syndrome, so this is much more manageable for him. He prefers his "games" to be loud, but not excessively so. That box is checked in this game. He is also unable to play games that include a timer. I can't turn off the timer on the Multiplication Master device, and he becomes agitated as a result of my anxiety. He can go at his own pace in this Math Shark game. It's also a plus that it comes with a variety of drills, allowing him to practice in a systematic or haphazard manner. There are options for my younger son to practice adding and subtracting. If you have a child who needs some practice with math facts, I highly recommend this program because the repetition helps the facts stick. br>br>The only minor criticism I have is that the figures appear to be a little too solid. They take a little more effort to push than other devices, but this gives the impression that they won't be easily broken.
Surprisingly, my daughter enjoys using the math shark. She's seven years old, and she knows how to multiply but not all of the factors. She enjoys speed drills based on skills and levels, as well as using the calculator functions to accumulate points in domino and poker games. br>Someone has expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of backlight or the dim light. Kids with good eyesight, on the other hand, are unconcerned about this. Most of the time, they don't require backlight. br>The math shark does an excellent job of separating skill levels and presenting challenges. It appeals to children for this reason. They know there's always something they can improve on, so they want to keep doing so. And, best of all, they acquire necessary math skills. br>Congratulations on this straightforward device. It appears to be outdated, but it functions properly.
My son, who is in the second grade, dislikes competition and dislikes math. During the summer, I needed to make sure he did some basic math practice, so I purchased this Math shark. When it arrived, he played with it for 30 minutes before storing it. After about two weeks, I challenged him to complete one of several tasks, one of which was to complete addition and subtraction tests and see how long it took, which he completed. He repeated the experiment the next day in order to compare the results. He now takes two tests a day (one for each skill) and tries to beat his own time without my nagging. The objective has been met.
Last November, I bought this for my two sons (based on rave reviews) and didn't insist on them trying it out right away (it was a Hanukkah gift, and it wasn't tried out until after the holiday break). The display is difficult to read, so the boys refused to use it, and I put it away to try again later. Nine months later, we needed some math drilling, so I pulled it out and replaced the batteries, only to discover that one of the LED elements had gone bad, making it difficult to tell what number was being displayed. br>br>I'm guessing this will be thrown away after less than an hour of total use.
I bought six of these and used them with my third graders for several years, creating a data sheet for multiplication on which they could record their time, and when they reached my time goal for them individually in Level 2, they could move on to the next number to practice, and when they had completed all of the goals for Level 2, they could move on to level three. I did the same thing with division, and all of my students were ready for fourth grade with a strong foundation of facts. It only took five minutes a day. When I retired, I left these in my classroom. I went out and purchased another four. My GED students will receive two, and my grandchildren will receive two. They were a hit in the classroom, and students begged for more time to play with them.
I really like this device, but I do have two complaints. The first is that the screen is sometimes difficult to read because it has to be moved in a specific way. Two, the numbers 2 and 5 are so out of style that it took my 5-year-old a long time to get used to them. She got the wrong answers because she misread it, and her disappointment was crushed until I looked at it and taught her how to tell the difference between the two numbers.
