In the end, this ribbon wand is just okay. For me, the effect was kind of just *meh*. As a preschool teacher, I bought it to use with my students when they perform their ribbon dances, since they often ask me to do so as well. A kid who is short would probably have difficulty working with the ribbon since it is fairly long. In the end, the ribbon itself proved to be the greatest disappointment. My expectations were that it would be wider, like the other wands I have As well as being poorly sewed, it was also unusable. The ribbon had different widths all along the length of it, which isn't a huge deal, but is something to keep in mind. As far as my needs go, it works, but I had expected a little more quality for the price.

A 7-year-old of mine has a sensory disorder, and ribbons are his favourite item. He can twirl the ribbon and run around with it so this is a great activity for him. There will be no splinters on the wood handle since it is smooth. A colorful ribbon is tangled up, but it is not a fragile material. The knot can be easily undone.
