China is the most likely suspect. I don't think it's a good idea. They are prone to breaking. Made for a very low price!
At first, they're a bit difficult to open. There's a tummy line. To open them, I had to poke them with my nail at first. Once you've gotten them open, they'll loosen up a little. Also, keep an eye out for the tiniest one! These are a hit with my niece!

Most of the nesting dolls I've found for my kids don't get as small as these, and for me, that's part of the fun of them. That said, when this one arrived, it took a sharp knife and a lot of elbow grease to open it. The container on the outskirts had been painted shut. One of the inner pieces is also too loose to keep itself closed. Furthermore, some of the innermost containers are so thin that if squeezed, they could easily warp or break. Overall, it's a fun gift that also serves as a puzzle. like toy. There are a couple of minor flaws.
This is an attractive collection. However, there are two pieces that are missing. Two of the dolls are ruined as a result of this. It wasn't all that enjoyable. It was disappointing.
