Not sure how to give a star rating by warmth for these popping pipes, unless they mean the quality of the colors, which is much more important. I think these are great for the price. As a figit toy/ stress reliever, these were given to my 7 year old daughter who has an autism diagnosis, and she just loves pulling them apart and hearing the continuous popping noise any time she is feeling tense or There might be some inconsistency in the textures of the pipes if there's just one standard one. Children who like sensory experiences usually like a variety of textures, along with those who like auditory experiences. Both of those are important to mention because, yes, there is a variety of bright colours, but there is no change in the texture or sound, so the novelty very quickly wears off. Moreover, I would have liked them to be thicker so that they could sustain a child pulling, twisting, and building with them without tearing them. After a week or so, a few of them began to distort so much that they either split open or did not fit well with the rest of the assemblage.

All my kids had trouble with was that it dented when they squeezed too tight, which caused retraction to be affected. The problem was easily rectified with a long marker or by using the handle of a kitchen utensil to pop the part out and it was back to normal! I can see these being great grab bags for kids with sensory needs. They can also be a great grab bag for teachers.

I'm having fun. I enjoy them very much! It appears simple, but the simplicity is deceptive. I especially like the versatility of these because my twin granddaughters of six are just so enthralled by them. I was not able to understand all the praise for the noise the units make when I was reviewing and purchasing them. Now that I see it, I understand. Having fun is the best part. These aren't specially designed for individuals with special needs, but the girls love them and use them creatively all the time. Your kids might use them in a variety of ways, so don't think you can think of all the possibilities. No matter how hard you try, it will never work. It is amazing to see how imaginative they can be. We are really pleased with how they turned out. A thick plastic holds well to shapes and is easy to work with. Their length is quite long, and the sound is fantastic. We made funny hats and necklaces using these today along with obstacle courses for the kids to play with.
