Hello, this is a brilliantly handcrafted antique replica with a logical df lens fitted telescope. It may not be as good as digital magnification, but it will show you a running horse from a distance of one meter. On a clear day, the distance is about 5 kilometers. It's been compared to 20x by some people. br>However, as I previously stated, the Baras telescope is a true gem.
Yes, you can see closer objects, but you must first adjust the eyepiece inward or outward to reach a focus point. It will zoom in on a specific point before displaying. If you try to focus on a short distance with only the eyepiece part moving inward or outward, you may only be able to get the focus by moving the eyepiece inside or outside.
This telescope is made of optical brass. We can't specify a x magnification because it's equipped with a high-resolution optical DF lens, unlike the digital ones, but if used and focused with stability, you can see objects from as far as 1. The distance is between 5 and 2 kilometers. This antique replica, not a genuine antique, is made of brass. Similar telescopes were once used to track horseback riders and armies.

The case/holder has a base stain on it. All of the connected pieces of the telescope can be unscrewed to disassemble it. Polish each piece with BRASSO* and a small cloth, then use WD-40 to finish. Reassemble each piece with care, using 40 on the threads. (Don't pull on the threads; instead, be gentle and patient. ) Clean, dry brass will oxidize naturally over time (I prefer the look of honest tarnish) or you can polish it from time to time if you prefer a clean, shiny look. There appears to be an outer leather layer on the case/holder. as if veneer was molded to a semi-circular semi-circular semi-circular semi-cir (Someone chose to coat the leather veneer with a water-resistant coating. ) REMEDY: Use a darkening stain as a base. Remove the strap from the case and scrub the stain with a toothbrush under warm running water, concentrating on the rivets (you can also use your bare hand; the stain will simply wash away). Make sure the inside of the case does not get wet, and work quickly. (You only have a one to two minute window before the case begins to absorb too much water. ) Dry the case with a towel and straighten any deformities on the edges that the water may have caused. Carefully close the lid and let it air dry. The case will be very ridged when it is dry, which won't be long. The case is very durable and has a nice tan color. I went with a black dye job on the case. I also added some length to the strap by replacing it with a longer purse strap.
This Spyglass is one of our favorites, and it works beautifully! However, contrary to what the listing claims, the case is NOT LEATHER. Whatever was used to make it look like leather is coming off on our hands and looking smeared. I was thinking about returning it, but I really want the case that was advertised.
It's a very high-quality product. Telescope of high quality. I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to make it work. So far, the only thing I can see is the sun; the rest of the time, it's completely cloudy. I'm not sure if it's just for show or if it's a treasure. It stated that a horse could be seen from a distance of 1. 5 KM . I'd keep it if I could only see one thing because it's a lovely display piece.
For the price, this is an excellent product. The optics are fantastic and the build quality is excellent.
At a very reasonable price, you can get a cool, fun, and one-of-a-kind item.
The spyglass itself is quite interesting and would make an excellent gift. It's a great solution. It's a cloudy day, but we can make out the numbers on a mailbox a block away. It should perform better on a sunny day, according to the description. It takes some practice to figure out how to focus, but once you do, it magnifies well and is enjoyable to use. It's important to keep in mind that we're in the year 1818. You can't have expectations for 2021 based on current technology. The only drawback is that the case is not made of genuine leather as advertised. It has the texture of a thick papery material that is meant to resemble faux leather. I can tell that any force on it would tear it like thin cardboard, but the spyglass is nice enough that I wouldn't complain about the case quality, but if it's important to you, consider it.
Because I couldn't focus on anything indoors early Christmas morning, I initially assumed the lenses were plain glass. I could see how good the optics are once the sun came up and I was able to focus at a greater distance. Apart from the 'East India Company' markings on the telescope and case, what I like about this telescope is that once it has been focused on an object, you can aim it elsewhere and bring any subject into focus simply by extending or collapsing the tubes, a process known as 'tracking. ' 'I am very pleased with this item and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys historical reproductions. '.
