A very excited boy was waiting to open this for me when I bought We found it fun to use for about 10 minutes, but when it came time to use the extra plates that came with it to inspect our own items and the yeast, etc that is provided, we found out that it came without My son will be able to look at the objects set up for us by this microscope set that I purchased. After that, he dropped interest! You can add just a few overlays to go with the kit and he'll be right back to his old self. It is too time consuming to go shopping around for these items. So, we order them from amazon. Overlays are not something I can think about to figure out what types to get based on my schedule. Because it is a kids' product, it's to be assumed that the person buying it doesn't know what accessories he or she needs to go with You would think that it would come with all the materials needed to examine your own stuff, if it contains all that it does!.
This is for a special neighbor who has a birthday coming up. The app worked fine for the few minutes I tried it out. My concern is that it is relatively light weight and I am not sure how long the batteries will last. When it comes to the learning curve, I believe this will take a lot of schooling, but there is always a learning curve with any microscope. Every microscope is challenging in its own way when it comes to changing slides and getting them in the right position. The use of a wax pencil and placing a circle around the magnified object on a slide can be very useful for beginners who are having trouble finding the magnified object.
I gave the microscope to my granddaughter who just turned 8 years old and wants to be a scientist one day. She enjoyed looking at her hair, blades of grass, and flower petals right out of the box. As she grows older, I think she will be able to enjoy it even more, as she works on discoveries and experiments.
This was a gift for a young teen as part of a Secret Santa gift exchange. Having read reviews, I felt confident that I was getting a quality microscope from this brand. Everything seemed to have been well protected in the colorful box. It was nice to be able to find this at a reasonable price so we had money left over to buy other gifts. As I looked at his face on Christmas morning, I could imagine it was a happy one.
I bought this microscope for our 5 year old granddaughter and she will have help from her parents. It is well made and is going to last a long time. The good news is that this is the case. If I had a microscope like this, I would love to teach 8 - 12 year olds Age range of 12 to 15 years old.
When the kids woke up Christmas morning, they were pretty excited to play with this, but within a few minutes the knob that raises and lowers the slide table had stopped working. The product is being returned for a refund as a consequence of the disappointing experience.
Very happy with it.
In addition, the slides that were provided to her have been a great hit. A reasonable price.
