Melissa & Doug Deluxe Band Set with Wooden Musical Instruments & Storage Case

Buyer I've used several of these instruments in my infant and toddler class and they've been quite successful. A disappointing part of the set is that half of it is poorly made. I have a xylophone and it is horrible. The recorder is poorly manufactured and you can see little missed pilot marks on the wood next to where they actually carved the hole. There is barely a hollow wood sound, and the notes are not even correct. It was a sloppy job Kazoos are not even remotely functional, and the one you got is a joke. As I expected for a set of harmonicas such as this, it is made of cheap plastic. If only one or two items had been too expensive, it might not have been such a bad deal In the end, this was not what I was expecting at all, mainly because some of them were not usable. There is no way that Melissa and Doug would provide this level of quality. It is better to purchase something else if you intend to foster a love, or even a liking for music. Then you can use this, I guess, if you want something "aesthetic. " As far as I can tell, the xylaphone produces as many "notes" as There is no sound coming from the kazoo. Better than this recorder is the one available at dollar trees. A C, D, E, F, G can only be played by overblowing and going to the upper octave. As a flute player, this frustrates me the most. A harmonica from the dollar store is probably better than the one included. For children under the age of four, the tune is out of tune and hard to play. Besides the jingle sticks, the other percussion instruments are fine. They are a bit rough to the touch, but I don't mind. I don't necessarily have any problems with the wood/tone block, the triangle, clacker, and castanets, and I think you can't really go wrong with the rhythm sticks. Get it for MUSIC, but don't get it for games.

Choosing the cheaper option is a better idea. The variety of 'instruments' found in this set was what attracted us to purchase it. I am pretty upset with the quality of the xylophone, recorder, kazoo, and harmonica. It is possible to purchase higher quality versions of each of these items individually and I highly recommend it. I received the wooden items - the block, castanet, and sticks - just fine. The triangle got along just fine as well. Though I found it very disappointing, I understand that most three-year-olds won't notice or care when something is out of tune or otherwise unplayable. Rather than buying a expensive band-in-a-box, there's a cheaper one There is actually a Melissa and Doug box (our family friends have that model) that is much better than the Melissa and Doug box. My recommendation is to use the previous one instead of.

As soon as I got this set, I became so excited. I received the item as described, and it came fast. It has been holding up well for the last few months since everything is made well. It is the lack of a recorder that most concerns me about this set. . . . and I mean ALL the time! I understand why kids are disappointed, especially the young ones. Second, there is the issue of the It is very challenging for any of the kids (ages 9, 8, 4, 2) to make any meaningful sounds. Although it works well, the sound still remains very muffled when my husband or I are using it. It is a good set, but we're not sure it is worth the amount they want, but it should work just fine for now, and we replaced the nice, but non-functioning old one with a new one. This is a wooden recorder from the dollar store with a plastic one. I have found the dollar store one to work well!.

There were several reasons not to buy this toy and I wished I had not. Several other people have had these same problems as well, and these are similar. The first thing to say is that this toy is It had a rough feel to the handles of the jingle sticks. How much sanding did you do? My guess is that they weren't. They were extremely sharp and I was afraid of splinters. Wood chips were all over the box when we opened it, so we had no choice but to dump them out. Although this is a toy, it still stands to reason that the point should be to instill a love of music in kids who Instruments like these will not cause that to happen. With these, you cannot make any kind of music at all. This xylophone is made of wood, which is so soft that it dented on the first day, and all the notes it plays sound similar. On the recorder, the notes are in the same format. There is no distinction between the notes in the screeches. As for the rest of the instruments, they're just random wooden things meant for banging, so you really can't go wrong. I don't want them to think they have found something special with this toy. There are some pretty good toy instruments out there, but I certainly don't wnat anyone to think they have. The price is way too high for this to be worth even half as much.

It is only the xylophone I am not in love with. Since there are no resonators and the bars are attached to the frame too tightly, it produces a dull sound since it is a small, table top xylophone without resonators. I did read some reviews that said they all sounded the same, but you can hear that the shorter bars play higher notes, and it is just an extremely dull sounding xylophone in general. You should look for a child's xylophone that has metal bars, or one that has wooden bars on a stand, connected by a cord and with resonators, if that is your main concern. It is important to keep in mind that these sets are designed for preschoolers, which means they are made to be durable and safe, not for high quality sounds. Because of the poor quality of the craftsmanship, some of the toys did not work. Recorder and kazoo didn't make any noise, but we heard both the same way. In comparison, the ridges on the guiro were like a balding tire. When brushed with the stick, they had no noise, but you could see them, and the rest of the instruments were fine. The quality was pretty poor and disappointing for Melissa & Doug. Theodore Douglas.
