They're fine in terms of functionality, as one would expect from a Lego product. Two medium-sized motors are included in this kit. The motors' leads are a little short, but extensions can be purchased separately. There are no building parts included, so if you don't have them, you'll need to order them separately. The instructions that come with the kit only show how to install batteries, and they're not even as good as the Product Description pictures on Amazon, so print those from here if you need instructions (like how to set the transmitter's frequency). The medium motors do have limited connections, which is a minor quibble. To secure the motor to your model, use the four technics holes. Because there are studded receivers on the bottom but not the top or sides, you'll need technics parts to avoid vibration and separation issues.

I sent an email because one of the motors was defective, and I only received one response with no results. I've sent another email and am waiting to hear back. I would expect better customer service for the price of these motors, as well as for them to work and not break when we receive them.
These items are individually wrapped in a non-toxic material. Lego box. Don't let this deter you, however. This set is extremely popular among my son's friends. It's entertaining and allows for a lot of creativity when it comes to Lego creations. It's cheaper to buy the pieces from Lego, but when it's that time of year and Lego returns, it's worth it. When something is ordered, it is delivered.
This was for my 6-year-old grandson, who enjoys building lego creations of his own. It's effective and exactly what he was looking for.
The range is just abysmal, but it's a great learning addition to your legos. All of my attempts at changing batteries and angling the receiver and transmitter were in vain. Apart from that, it works perfectly. My son and I constructed a double shaft drive for a recycled Styrofoam boat; all we had to do was walk behind it in the creek to get it to move.
It works great, but the transmitter must be powered by brand new AAA Energizer batteries. With older batteries, the transmitter would not work. In addition, the EV3 small transmitter is fully compatible with this receiver and is more forgiving of battery freshness.
My son adores them and has created some incredible creations using them. Thank you for brightening the day of a young boy.
