Model train and scenery companies, it appears, think like the government and believe that raising taxes (prices) to the point of forcing them out of business is a good idea. It's the same with this item. Could probably be found for a lower price somewhere else, but because the plug is a specialty item, any power adaptor will not work. This is why I avoid purchasing Woodland Scenics whenever possible. Simply put, it is overpriced for what you receive.
NOTE: There are in the power pack. It does exactly what it says. NOTE: A female socket is present on the power pack. Female sockets are used in the LED lights. To link them all together, you'll need a Distribution Hub or Lighting Hub. When the Woodland Scenics Lighted Trackside Building refused to connect to the power supply, I was surprised. To connect them, I needed to purchase a Lighting Hub (a Distribution Hub would work but lacks the dimming circuitry).
The power supply for the Woodland Scenics JP5770 Just Plug Lighting arrived on time: I'm looking forward to properly planning and implementing all of Woodland Scenics' ground ideas. Will have fun lighting up the model train set and having the lights turn on when it gets dark or dusk.
Instead of using my train controller to draw power, I like the idea of using this. On my 25-piece train board, I have ALL of my LED lights turned on. I'm confident it'll go on for much longer.
The lighting system will not work if you do not have this.
Connect to a power source.
On our HO train layout, we have lighting for buildings.
