This is a nice flat car, especially for the price; it has a heavy feel to it but is still light based on the NMRA formula. On the other hand, I haven't found any HO rolling stock that comes close to matching it. It's nearly impossible to increase the weight of a flatcar unless you fill in the detail on the bottom with weights in order to have an unloaded car. Adding a load is the only logical way to increase weight. This isn't the seller's fault, and I'm not sure how the manufacturer could increase the weight while staying true to the original design. It's easy to roll, and the coupler height is just right. I'd buy it again if the opportunity arose.
C+. I'd give it more stars if I could, but I'm afraid I won't be able to In the photo, it appears to be a bright yellow, but it's actually more of a mustard/butter color. I suppose that's closer to the true UP colors, but I bought it for the yellow color, not the authentic Line. It's a plus if the brake wheel is black! But, alas, the graphics on this flatcar aren't as good as the other colors I received. To me, this is fascinating: Every color of car appears to have been produced from the same mold - The decks of all the cars have the same minor variations and imperfections. Wild. Anyway, I used to work in manufacturing, so I'm fascinated by this stuff. I apologize for the inconvenience. br>br>My advice is to get any of the other colors if you want something vibrant, but get this for a Union Pacific layput because the color is fairly accurate. Oh, and the dark mustard will be a breeze to weather on this car as well. If you're into that sort of thing, the others would benefit from more layers of powders, paints, and chalks. That's something to take into account. Let's get this freight rolling.
The car, on the other hand, would detach in corners or on a slightly uneven track. The reason for this is that the locomotive couplers are about 1/16 inch higher than the locomotive couplers. I don't believe a replacement would solve the problem because the coupler housing is attached to the chassis directly. Apart from this flaw, the vehicle is a good buy.
As others have pointed out, the color is a mustard yellow. It's also just a tad too short to accommodate a 53-foot container. The container has a slight sag on both ends, which may prompt me to return and opt for a well car instead.
This is a basic HO freight car from Walthers. There are no flaws in the construction of this product.
It's a fantastic product, and because it's an empty flat car, you can load it with almost anything. To expand your setup, you can use anything from crates to wood bundles to shipping containers.
Everything I desired was always available. The letters are neat and tidy. It has a great roll.
The train set that I have.
