Questions & Answers

Is this engine compatible with Bachman couplers, tracks, and other Bachman components?

The engine is completely compatible with the Bachmann track. It will work with modern cars with knuckle couplers, but not with older cars from the 1970s, 1980s, or even 1990s. They have horn hook couplers in the old style. New kadee couplers can be used in place of the old horn hook couplers, and they work just as well. I'd go with a kadee 5 or a 148 coupler. They cost around $5 for two pairs.

Are you all set for DCC?

The dcc chip adds about a quarter of a pound to the overall weight of the device. These aren't harmed in any way. However, for what you get, this is a good price.

Is there a motor in this engine, or is it just a "dummy" engine?

Yes, there is a motor in the engine. It's ready to use right away.

Are the tracks included?

Assume it doesn't if it doesn't say so explicitly in the item description. Track, on the other hand, is not prohibitively expensive.

GP9 1709 Burlington Burlington Burlington Burlington Burlington Burlington First and foremost, DO NOT be put off by the price! (I'm used to Bachmann prices) It runs very smoothly, is as quiet as a mouse, and can pull up to 25 tons

It's easy to get 30 cars and look good doing it. Overall, I'd give this engine a perfect score of 5 out of 5!.

The good: This locomotive does not run like a Kato or Bachmann locomotive
3/5

It appears to be attractive. This is a good deal. br>Contrary to popular belief, the following is a list of flaws in this It doesn't work well. Unpredictable; With only four Walthers freight cars in tow, there is a risk of wheel slip. It runs better after about 3 minutes of warming up, but the wheels still slip and the lights flicker. br>Bachmann produces a fantastic engine, both in the box and on the racetrack. 15 cars can be pulled by it. It's not an issue. Crawl at a comfortable pace. Despite the fact that this is a replacement, there are still issues. The same goes for the original unit. br>I will not purchase any more locomotives from Walthers Trainline. Keep Kato on your side. Bachmann; Atlas; athearnbr>athearnbr>athearnbr>athearnbr>athe appointed.

The Walthers Trainline EMD HO Scale GP9M motor is a low-cost, short-life motor
3/5

I bought one of these specifically for S. G, for $50 or so, I was pleasantly surprised by both the paint (which isn't bad) and the locomotive's overall appearance. Because this is a DC-only model, I put her on the DC test track and ran it back and forth a few times to "break it in. " I wasn't pulling any cars, just keeping an eye on the loco light. I think it took me about 15 minutes to complete all of them. I installed a Soundtraxx mobile decoder and ran it for about another 30 minutes on my DCC layout because the motor was not smooth at all at first and only slightly smoother after the short runs. When it was converted to DCC, the smoothness improved at first, but after about 30 minutes of operation, the motor began to short out internally. At this point, I believe the motor is beyond repair, and I'll replace it with a better one, but my first impression of the motor when I removed the shell was that it was a very cheap toy-like electric motor. My instincts were correct, to be sure. If you don't like to fix things or re-do things, this isn't the place for you. I'm not going to waste my time on this, motors. When it comes to running it on a DC or DCC layout, it's pretty much useless. I've finished reading the GP15- 1 contains a much better motor as well as a PC board for improved lighting. But I'm not going to pay $65 to find out.

It works flawlessly
4/5

There are issues with the train whistle. So, this train is attractive, sturdy, and equipped with a bright LED light. The train whistle, however, broke off as soon as I took it out of the box, according to the reviews. I was curious why it wasn't mentioned in the other reviews. It was most likely included, but it broke off as soon as it was opened, which was unfortunate. I considered returning it to Amazon, but instead went to my local hobby store and purchased some excellent glue. The glue worked perfectly and, as you can see in the attached photo, it also looks great. br>br>In conclusion, I do not believe the train will be delayed. This one works well and is quiet; I believe you may need to let it run for a while before it reaches its full potential. The engine is well-cared for in the box, with instructions for oiling, disassembling, and other tasks. br>br>Overall, this item is something I would recommend. Just keep an eye out for the flimsy train whistle, which will almost certainly break off. I thought I was also fairly cautious when it came to opening. Gluing, on the other hand, was fairly simple. As long as that isn't an issue for you, this product should suffice.

Any HO set would benefit from this addition
5/5

This was delivered to me recently. On a Bachaman train set, I'm using it. The coupler that connects my other cars is unique. It's a vintage set, to be sure. It connects, but it does not remain connected. It has a light in the cab that lights the cab as well as the dual headlamps above the cab in the front, but it is not very bright. On my track, it works perfectly. It continues to go around in circles without stopping.

Quality, Quality, Quality, Quality, Quality, Quality, Quality, Quality, Quality, Quality, Quality, Quality, Quality This is a fantastic addition to my grandson's HO train collection
5/5

I bought it on Amazon and it's fantastic. It's a big machine that'll be your system. br>It adds color and stands out in our collection as "the leader of the Pack. " WOW, you will be pleased with Amazon's low prices and prompt delivery. br>I am extremely pleased and proud of this engine, and I am confident that you will be pleased with your addition and feel the same way I do; It's absolutely incredible. I didn't include any technical information because the unit's appearance is all that matters. br>Thank you br>br>br>br>br>br>.

It works well, and my kids like it
5/5

I originally paid a little more for this engine on eBay than I did on Amazon. "NIB" was mentioned in the eBay description, which I assume means "New in Box. " The rear coupler, which is the hook that pulls the train cars, was missing from the eBay item. As a result, it's not very useful for building a train. "Items sold as is," I was told when I asked for a refund. Is eBay solely populated by scumbags looking for a quick buck? Are there any decent people involved, or are they just scumbags? br>This engine performs as expected. It has no problems pulling 12 cars around an eight-foot oval. It even pushes the cars if that's what you want. It makes both my children and me very happy.

Excellent product! This train was given to my father as a present
5/5

He recently reintroduced himself to train collecting and settled on the HO scale. I knew he'd enjoy this train because it looks like the trains that pass through our town on a regular basis. I knew I'd nailed it when he opened the present on Christmas morning. This train is extremely durable and will last a long time; I would buy it again!.
