One rope is attached with three kids in it in the attached picture. Having the kids stretch it comfortably, I let them stretch it as far as they could. The space was too small for everyone to bump into each other without hitting each Having read the reviews, I knew the ropes would be short, so I bought 2 packages of them and tied an additional foot onto one to make it.

It's easy to see in the picture that the jump rope is already tied. You have to tie them together yourself when they arrive, because they are not tied together when they arrive. Tying them together in a way that makes them secure and tight is incredibly challenging. Hence, as soon as the kids start to play with them, they won't stay tied.
