There is no question that a 2312 motor has the same mount size as a 2212 or 2216 motor. Two S550 hex frames are in my collection. One of them is generic (from Amazon) and the other is The frames are both equipped with Multi star Elite 2312-es A motor with a 980kv output, two 20 amp ESCs, and four AA batteries. It is okay to combine that combination up to 2500+g. Lastly, may I remind you that the generic kits use weaker arms that are more likely to vibrate, and the generic frame kits arms do not include carbon fiber rods. As a rule, the generic kits can work, but I've used the SK carbon fiber rod style arms on both of mine because of vibrations, so be aware of that when installing a generic kit. I have two configurations that are rather heavy (over 2500g) with retracts, three axis gimbals, dual operators, FPV transmitters, cameras, and batteries to name a few. (6) 2312 and 2313 A 980kv motor with a DJI carbon fiber 9450 prop lifts them just fine. It may enable you to get a little better flight time if you step up to a 10" prop. There is no doubt that this is an imitation Other than the arms, all of the plastic feels like dollar store plastic, and the holes for the landing gear do not line up. Neither the carbon fiber nor the material looks like it is real. I'm in a hurry so this is what I get. However, I still use it without crashing, so I can't speak to the overall strength of its performance.
The quality of the product is excellent. I recommend this book highly.

The frame and the arms are stiff. In general, everything is very well put together. It has a bit of a flimsy feel to it, so I took off a star. It is not likely they will break with normal use, but a better design would have been more suitable.
If you want a decent flight controller, this will be a problem.
