Questions & Answers

Is there a remote control included? Are you looking for some batteries? Is it the car, or is it something else entirely? What is included in the package?

Only the car and an electronic speed control are included in this package. To put it together, you'll need to buy a radio, a battery, and a battery charger.

How fast?

It's not super fast, but it's a lot of fun to build.

What size and number of turns does the included motor have?

I'm pretty sure it's a 540, but I can't find any other information about it.

Is esc a part of the package? Does it, according to one person, or does it not, according to another?

One of these buggy was purchased by me. It arrived in an airtight bag. The ESC was not included, according to the box in the wrap. A TBL- Within the box, there was a 02S.

RC model kit for hobbyists; Many improvements have been made; 2S LIPO was used to upgrade to Brushless
5/5

Tamiya has a long history and is a great place to start if you're new to RC hobby vehicles. Will this vehicle perform as well as a Team Losi or Associated vehicle? No, but if you're just getting started in the hobby, do you want to spend so much money? In comparison to WLToys; The Tamiya kits are more expensive, but replacement parts are easier to come by in the United States and take less time to arrive than parts ordered from China. Furthermore, if you opt for the more powerful brushless engines, you won't have to deal with super-heated air. WLToys glued motor mount bolts that will require heat to loosen. br>br>This is a Tamiya TT-100 model. To finish building the 02B kit, you'll need the following items: br>Transmitter/receiver radio system; A Flysky FS-100 is what I use. If you have a six-year-old child, this is a great way to start. year- This will be a patience-building activity for the kids while they wait for you to put this thing together. The instructions are clear and detailed, and it's important to pay close attention to every detail. br>br>Upgrade to a lipo/brushless camera: br>Plastic is used for the drive shaft and differentials. The prop shaft, joints, and bearings are all made of aluminum. On the second run, while using a brushless motor, the front propeller gear disengaged. The propeller shaft remained in place after shimming the front propeller bearings with folded aluminum foil, and the car now maintains four-wheel drive despite crashes, flips, and bouncing around. I've only driven the car on grass so far, and I'm still tweaking it before putting it through its paces on ramps and jumps. br>br>Overall, a fantastic experience for me and my children who are just starting out in the RC hobby. I didn't want to spend $200 on a TLR or Team Associated kit only to have it crash into a curb or tree at full throttle on the first run.

The construction is excellent
5/5

There are a few things to keep in mind when upgrading. I'm almost finished with this kit; all that's left is to paint the shell. br>br>I used a Surplus Hobby 80A ESC and a brushless 3650 / 3900KV motor, as well as a Zeee 5200 3S battery. This RC setup is extremely fast and handles extremely well. I'd like to put it to the test in a big parking lot. so I'll be able to go full throttle for longer than a few seconds I'd hit a brick lining in a yard and it had held up well; nothing had loosened up, and I wasn't going full speed, maybe 10 to 15 mph. br>br>I'd like to point out a few things to keep in mind. 1. br>br> Upgrade to a ball bearing I switched to ball bearings and experimented with the Tamiya TT-100. 02/TT- The bearings for the wheel cups in the 02B ball bearing pack were too small in diameter and were loose in the wheel cups; yes, they would work, but they are not a good tight fit. If you're switching to ball bearings, the Fast Eddie is the way to go. Tamiya Plasma Edge II OR Neo Scorcher TT-Tamiya Plasma Edge II OR Neo Scorcher TT-Tamiya Plasma The ball bearings in the 02B Sealed Bearing Kit are the correct size. 2. br>br>1. br>br>br>br>br>br The Tamiya ESC failed during testing; I'll have to contact Tamiya for a replacement so that I can use the included brushed motor on a basher car. There was a sizzling sound when I turned on the ESC, and it won't go into programming mode to switch to brushless, only a flashing green light. 3. br>br>4. br>br>5. br>br>6. There was an extra washer, which was useful for screwing in the backplate, which only required one screw. The screw simply pops through the backplate without the washer. The extra washer appears to be used there, despite the fact that the instructions did not mention it. 4. br>br> The screw on the servo I bought was too short, and the screws that came with the kit didn't fit. I needed to go to the hardware store to get a long enough screw. This isn't a problem with the Tamiya kit, but it is something to keep in mind when choosing a servo. 5. br>br> The shell is clear and will require painting, so be sure to stock up on paint. 6. br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br> UPDATE: I experimented with a generic aluminum drive-shaft and joint. shafts. The driveshaft wax isn't long enough, and there's too much play, to the point where the front joint is slipping. While the differential is installed, the shaft can be pulled right out of the bevel gear that connects to it. br>br>**Use Tamiya brand aluminum driveshaft and joint cups because they fit correctly. br>br>The plastic driveshaft and joint cups included in the kit fit fine and appear to hold up well. The aluminum components were noticeably lighter to eat. 7. br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br> The instructions are excellent; I began by watching YouTube videos and then discovered that I could easily follow along with the instructions. It took me a long time to get to this point with this kit, but I was taking my time and learning a lot from it, so I think I'll be able to complete another one much faster next time.

Strongly suggested
5/5

I'm getting back into the hobby after a 20-year hiatus, and I thought this would be a good place to start. My intuition was correct; the Plasma Edge 2 has proven to be a simple to build and maintain platform. I've only recently begun upgrading parts and have had no trouble finding replacements; OEM and aftermarket parts are readily available. I strongly recommend the Plasma Edge 2 to any level driver.

The ESC is not included in the kit
4/5

This was a great car to build and a lot of fun to build! It isn't the fastest, but it's a good place to start for those new to the hobby, as others have mentioned. The only thing worth noting is that, unlike many other Tamiya kits, this one does not include an electronic speed control. This isn't a big deal, but it's worth noting that in order to run the model, you'll need to buy one.

Just like the first time, I liked how it looked and felt like an old school build

There aren't many high-tech extras available.
