Rolling is required for most battle maps. The construction of this map is superior. Rubber is a soft and pliable material. like map. This one, in my opinion, should not be folded. It is, without a doubt, an excellent map to have in your collection.
It's only about a quarter of an inch thick. It's thin, but not to the point of being cheap. It's a mat with a lot of slenderness.
I suppose it could be used as a play area for a card game, but it would have to be a small game with a limited number of players and not one that requires cards to be spread out.
Only the cardboard box shown in the picture is included. Because the box isn't particularly large, I've been storing it there. You can certainly buy a poster tube or something similar if you prefer, but the mat is fairly heavy, and I prefer the thicker cardboard for transportation.

If you want to play X-COM, you'll almost certainly need this (or something similar). TMG is used on a regular basis. I used to play it on tables with loosely defined play areas, and it was fun, but now that there is a clearly defined space for the ships, I've discovered that both myself and my opponents actually USE that space. It's completely transformed the way I play the game and has opened up a lot of possibilities. It also adds to the overall appeal of the game. br>br>However, there is a catch: This mat is a huge mousepad, and it won't keep you from bumping into things or sliding around. I've heard that some people prefer plain black yoga mats, so if bumping is an issue for you, you might want to consider that. This, however, is ideal for casual play.
This is a difficult puzzle to solve! Is that something you want? Sure thing! Is it overpriced? Almost certainly. Is it going to help me enjoy my gaming more? Quite a bitbr>br>This mat is made of a rubbery bottom with a glued piece of fabric with a starfield pattern on one corner and the Star Wars logo on the other. Consider it a giant mousepad that is thinner. Unless you want to spend more money on a poster tube, it's not very portable because it's 36"x36. " I've had it for about a month and a half and have played about ten games with it, and it's still going strong. My initial concerns were that the fabric would unglue over time, especially in the corners, as one would expect from a mousepad, but this hasn't happened yet. It has had a positive impact on my gaming experience. I spent a lot of time setting up the play area in the proper dimensions, and I even used a felt cloth as a mat on occasion, but it moved around a lot. This remains in place, making the game easier to play, reducing setup time, and being tournament-required, it aids in scenario development. It also appears to be fun to play on. It's something I'd recommend to anyone who's serious about this game, or even Armada. It is applicable to both games.
Games that involve wings When you use this mat to place the tokens and ships, everything goes a lot smoother.
And it's a lot easier than buying fabric and attempting to sew it yourself!.
This mat is also suitable for use with Star Wars Armada. The bottom isn't made of anything. When compared to a plain table, the slip makes it easier to keep the ships in place. It also appears to be quite appealing.
The Starfield Playmat measures 36" x 36" and has the feel of a large mouse pad. The neoprene bottom will grip any floor, carpet, or table you choose to play on despite its thinness. Because the top is relatively smooth, if you're clumsy, your miniature will move when you bump it. The Starfield has a good resolution, but it isn't crystal clear.
When storing this mat, make sure it isn't folded. It will deform the mat, causing bubbles and raised areas. (After a few days of laying flat, they seem to go away).
