The plastic is a semi-rigid material. It retains its shape but can be flexed slightly when pressed, but it cannot be bent in half without breaking.

These tubes are great for keeping your various playmats clean and dust-free. br>br>I have a couple of special playmats, so I got these blue tubes to store them in so I can find the right one when I need it. br>br>So far, they've held up well; I'm only transporting them between my house and the LGS or a friend's house, so they're not too heavy, but I imagine this will be true for the majority of buyers.
As I've read in other reviews, I had no trouble getting my mat inside, but it wasn't nearly as sturdy as I had hoped. The bottom of the tube had already partially broken free, and there was a crack in the side of the lid, causing it to be very loose on the tube. The tube itself is in good condition. I could probably get away with putting one on each end if I could find two replacement caps, but I don't see those available. I wouldn't put it in my usual game-night bag. I'm sure I could return it, but for $7, I'm going to keep it. I'm going to put it on the shelf until I can find something more durable.
So far, I think this is an excellent little tube for card playing mats. If you lay one mat on top of the other before rolling them up, you can get two mats into one space. br>I assumed I'd be getting one with a black lid, but it's actually blue. It appears to be durable enough to last if you treat it with respect and don't bang it against things or compress it.
RUBBER DUAL MAT, OH RUBBER DUAL MAT, OH RUBBER DUAL MAT, THIS TUBE MAKES ME SO HAPPY! I do need to roll my Yu-Gi-Oh! Oh Rubber Duel Mat, slim/small enough to fit in the tubebr>MUST HAVE for Yu-Gi-Oh conventions and other Yu-Gi-Oh related events. Oh Events.
I've read a few other reviews that say exactly what I'm about to say. Getting my standard-sized playmat into this tube is a bit of a challenge. It took me four attempts to reroll my mat as tightly as I could. Even so, when I pushed it in, it got stuck on the sides.
My son has a large collection of playmats. He'll only use these tubes for storing things.
The idea of this rolling at a slight push had a few people laughing. However, sharper corners are required to avoid this. If the clear plastic was tinted or had a translucent design, that would be awesome.
For the past two years, I've had one. Because I stepped on it, the bottom broke, but it's still in good enough shape to display all of my sundowns. Additionally, it will not roll off the table.
