Questions & Answers

Is there a lid on the storage box?

No lid. It's just a scrap of placemat strewn across the top of the box. It's a real pain. I don't know how many times my son turned the box over and found these tiny block pieces all over the place!

I need a blank frame or puzzle. It is devoid of photographs. to allow children to create their own designs using pattern blocks ?

Have you seen Melissa yet, Joy? I believe this is what you are looking for: Doug Magnetic Pattern Block Kit (B006HMQHKM).

Is it plastic or wood that makes the blocks?

wood.

Do the patterns have grooves (like a toddler puzzle) or are they flat?

I think it's a bad design because it's flat. It's the reason why the pieces are all jumbled together.

If you're going to teach math with these, you'll need a different set
4/5

This is a fun set that can be used to teach a variety of early childhood concepts. concepts in elementary mathematics The white pieces, on the other hand, are cut at an angle that prevents them from blending in with the rest of the pieces. They should be between 30 and 40 years old. and 150- You can't build many shapes correctly because the angles are slightly off. If you're only going to use the set with the boards, this isn't a big deal, but if you're going to use these as a math manipulative, it can be a major issue.

The package was damaged when it arrived
3/5

The blocks are thinner than those of competing brands. The wooden divider in the box was completely broken on one end when it arrived. Paint had chipped off of several of the pattern boards. There is no lid, as is the case with all Melissa and Doug products. The blocks are extremely thin, measuring only 1/2 cm thick. I ordered the Learning Resources Wooden Pattern Blocks, which are 1 cm thicker than the Learning Resources Wooden Pattern Blocks. I also purchased the Learning Advantage Pattern Block Cards, which contain 20 different patterns. There are twice as many of them as Melissa and Doug.

Paint may have longer-lasting fumes, which is useful for many concepts
5/5

This one has been in our possession for almost two and a half years. I bought it to help our son, who suffers from a variety of medical conditions that cause global developmental delays, with a variety of projects. It turned out to be a major overreach at the time, and we're only now beginning to be able to put it all together in a functional way. So, this is painted wood. br>br> I like how it's painted, but the paint does have a slight odor, at least on our set. I'm still smelling it nearly three years later. Granted, I've been keeping ours in a gallon Ziploc bag, which doesn't allow for much airing out between uses and isn't preventing him from playing with it, but. That is a potential drawback for sensory-sensitive children, and it's always possible that a different paint is used now, so I'm not penalizing you for it; it's just something to think about. Despite the fact that it has spent a considerable amount of time in a bag, I mention it because I've had a few other painted toys do the same thing and not have the same fume issue over a comparable period of time, so I thought it was worth mentioning. Also, keep in mind that some of the pieces are small, so if you have a younger baby or toddler in the house, or if your child is a chewer with poor impulse control (like mine), this set may pose a choking hazard that must be carefully monitored. br>br>I think the concept of this toy is fantastic, and it has a lot of potential in a variety of areas. Fine motor skills, shape recognition, sorting, colors, matching, and counting are just a few of the ways this toy can be used to teach various concepts. We're working on matching the wooden shape pieces to the matching shape in the composite picture on the board right now; he can only handle about two shapes at the moment, but we'll work our way up. I also agree with another reviewer that a lid would have been fantastic on the wooden case, and since they went to the trouble of putting it in a wooden case, I think a lid makes a lot of sense, but I'm not marking off for it because I felt like I needed the flexibility of overall shape that a Ziploc bag would provide when it came to storage in our household. So overall, I think this is a great toy, but I think it's probably to unlock it's full potential.

Container of excellent quality but of no use
4/5

Pros: Cute designs, a lot of designs, takes up little space, high quality boards and piecesbr>br>Cons: Taking a design template out of the box without flipping the entire container over and spilling the pieces is extremely difficult/nearly impossible. Because of this, we threw the box away and transferred everything to a small plastic bin. br>br>It's also worth noting that I bought this for my 2-year-old son. The pieces slide around a lot on the wood designs, even after 5 years. I think he'll enjoy it more as he gets older, but the slippery surface does help him practice fine motor skills in the meantime. ness!.

This is an excellent product for toddlers and children in preschool and kindergarten
5/5

What adult doesn't have fond memories of playing with these as a kid? These are fantastic blocks for not only encouraging imagination, color and shape recognition, and pattern creation/recognition, but also for having fun with mom or dad or on their own as they get older. Our two children (4 and 2) adore playing with these blocks and sorting them into different colors and shapes. The older child enjoys following the patterns on the cards and putting together the design that has been laid out in front of her. The only criticism (not significant enough to detract from the overall quality) is that the only "cover" for the box is a piece of plastic that comes with the shipment. Although this works well as a lid while on the shelf, it comes off easily, and I'd prefer a better lid to keep the pieces in the box if it were dropped by this(these) previously mentioned toddler(s). Overall, we purchased this product on sale just before Christmas last year and have been very pleased with it. Despite the fact that it is no longer a novelty, our children still enjoy playing with it, and it has been a fun toy for our family. I would strongly advise others to use this service.

Shapes that are very durable; A lid is required
4/5

The shapes and cards are of good quality, and I give them three stars. The cards have been fun for the five-year-old to use and create his own shapes with. Ideal for children with a strong spatial sense. One of the cards should have a blank side so that they can build their own creations. They can obviously make their own on the floor or on a table, but some kids like to 'keep' their creations for a while, and a blank card would allow them to move them around so his spider or flower didn't end up in the middle of the room or on the dining table all day. Furthermore, because there is no lid, it must be stored flat and cannot be stacked on top, taking up a lot of space. Furthermore, if there are small siblings present, there is nothing to prevent them from obtaining the small shapes, which would categorize them as a choking hazard. It should be kept out of reach of children's mouths. sibling in good health.
