I wish the entire sticker had adhesive rather than adhesive dots so you could stick your gems anywhere (hence the four stars). My daughter wanted to cover everything in gems (which I understand; I'd do the same). However, if you place gems in different locations or not exactly on the adhesive dot, they will easily fall off. They are much more adherent to the window hanging pieces than stickers are. This, on the other hand, is nitpicking. Picky because it's a cute craft project that will keep my 5-year-old occupied for 30 minutes every now and then. When a gem falls off, I simply apply stick glue and use tweezers to adhere it (if she gets upset because it fell off). To keep the gems from flying everywhere, I placed them on a plate. It's fairly effective, and she's cautious. I'm not sure how I feel about the window hanging because you can only see the gems from one side, so either the inside or the outside will just look like a smattering of silver dots? It would be cool if you could put gems on both sides, but as it stands, you have to choose which side faces the ugly. I'm very pleased with it as a at-home craft project for the price I paid.
These are excellent for younger children. At my daughter's birthday party, we made these. She was seven years old when she did it, and she lived to tell the tale. The youngest who completed one was three years old, and while he required assistance, he was not too difficult to assist. The oldest child was ten years old. It's a great craft for kids who want to "diamond paint," but can't do elaborate adult projects that take a long time and have too small "diamonds. " These are the perfect size, and they only took me about 25 minutes to make.
This was a gift for my daughter's tenth birthday, and she loved it. Her older sister has large diamond art kits, which I assumed would be too much for a ten-year-old to handle. Before I dumped that amount into the small container, I had the 5-year-old count how many of each color he needed. For the 3 year old, I used a toothpick with the sticky and a small plate for his colors. This craft, as well as the colors and style, were a big hit with my kids. There are no instructions for my 5-year-old to follow, which makes it difficult for him. Because the pen doesn't stick to gems, you'll need to use a clay clump to turn it into a sticky pen for picking up small gems to place on the sticky paper.
