Questions & Answers

For a single child, how many bags are needed?

I bought a 2 pound bag for my 4-year-old son, who enjoyed playing with it throughout the pandemic. We usually put it on a tray and set it out. When it got a lot of use in the last year, I replaced it with a new bag once or twice. To get the party started, just one bag will suffice.

Is an airtight container required for this?

I don't believe so, because the package states that it will never dry out, but I store it in an airtight container.

What is the approximate weight of a single bag?

The bag weighs 2 pounds. It's about the size of a cantalope, to put it in perspective.

What is the approximate weight of a single bag?

The weight of this bag is two pounds. It was enough for my 12-year-old son. When he first got it, my 12-year-old son and I split it in half and played with it for two hours.

Here's something you should be aware of: A month ago, I purchased three bags of this natural color kinetic sand
4/5

Because it uses actual sand rather than synthetic particles (colored), I found it to have a heavier texture than colored sand. Colored sand, on the other hand, was a lot more fun for me because it has a snow flake-like light texture that makes cutting and separating clumps easier. br>br>So today I went out and bought two bags of purple sand to mix in with the natural colored sand, and I discovered an interesting fact: not only does real sand have a different texture, but it also weighs more. Because the purple sand is more fluffy, it appears even larger on the sand table (I pushed hard to fit both types of sand in the shot glass with the same amount of 2 pound bags of sand). Purple made me feel like I was putting more sand in my shoes). br>br>I hope you found this review to be beneficial.

Adults will enjoy this sensory activity as well! I bought it for my 15-month-old son, but he didn't want anything to do with it
5/5

And it's not that there was anything wrong with it; my child is simply extremely picky about what he plays with at the moment. I recently purchased a wooden activity cube, as well as a variety of sorter toys, building blocks, stem toys, and stem toys. What my child would touch, he would only play with for less than a minute before discarding it. br>He now refuses to put down my broom and mop. He also has a vtech rider toy with all the lights and buttons that he enjoys poking at. For everything else, it's just been a time-consuming and expensive experiment. I got him a cute little sandbox for his birthday. I bought it from Target online because I saw this sand and the great reviews and decided that instead of regular sand and the possibility of bugs, fleas, and rodents ending up in it (eek), I'll fill it with beautiful kinetic sand. br>Because I know my child is picky, I decided to just buy the one little bag first. I'm so glad I did. My child would never have played in it, so it would have been a waste. br>br>On the other hand, I find this stuff strangely fascinating. I'm not a child who enjoys playing with toys. Playing in sand or playdough does not provide me with any pleasure. In my opinion, this is also not the case. br>Holding this stuff in your hands feels amazing. It feels silky and creamy. Unlike playdough, it isn't clammy, cold, lifeless, or thick. And it's not gritty, dry, and blah like sand. br>It doesn't feel sticky, slimy, or gooey, which is surprising. When it falls to the floor, all you have to do is rub the sand against the sand that has fallen. It clings to itself like a magnet. I just continued to sift through the material with my fingers. It felt like I was getting therapy! It has now become my adult sensory item. br>I get the same satisfaction from this as I would from writing with a freshly sharpened pencil while watching a soap cutting video. It was incredibly fulfilling. It simply does not feel like anything else in my hands. br>It's a shame my kid didn't do anything with it; the sandbox would have looked fantastic if it had been filled with this. br>However, I'm going to get another bag for myself. It'll just be my 30 year old butt in the sandbox, I guess. br>I suppose as he gets older, he'll come around to it. When he does, I hope I'll be ready to share:.

The Blue Sand is not a friend of your mother's
3/5

You win some and you lose some, as the saying goes. It's a big hit with my three-year-old. But the fact that he likes it is all that matters to my husband and me. I'm not a fan of it otherwise. We got it because my mother-in-law has the uncolored variety, which is soft and sand-like with an untouchable airy feel. It's fantastic in general! The colored, on the other hand. The blue, at the very least, isn't so bad. I'm not saying this is a bad product; however, the color of the sand bleeds onto fabrics, skin, and floors, which is my main complaint. I'm not sure why this is, but I believe that when this sand is dyed, something in the chemistry is compromised, because while the uncolored sand feels firm but soft, the blue sand feels firm and not at all soft.

The Real Thing
5/5

I bought my granddaughter the One and Only Kinetic Sand base kit and, as Amazon suggested, added the Beach Sand for some extra sand. She stated that it was not the same, and I confirmed that she was correct when I checked it out myself. So we went back to Amazon and found this, which we ordered two of. This isn't beach sand; instead, it's the One and Only Kinetic Sand, exactly like the original. It has the proper binding properties and feels right. It is impossible to make a mistake.

Skin and plastic are both stained! This was a gift for my 5-year-old son
3/5

This has been my worst Amazon purchase to date. It clings to your hands in a way that you can't shake off like regular sand, and it stains your body! My child's hands had turned blue all the way up to his elbows! Blue in color! All of his clothes, including his blue and white polo, were stained by the sand. Also, after scrubbing it off in a tub full of water, it left a blue stain on the water, similar to a bath bomb. The tub was left with blue marks after the water was turned off. It took bleach to get rid of it! I can't express how dissatisfied I am with this product; how much glue and coloring are there? Be cautious when purchasing items for toddlers.

Please be aware of what you are doing - STAINS
3/5

Kinetic Sand is a favorite of my small children (toddlers and preschoolers), and to be honest, I enjoy it as well. It's like sand, but it's moldable, allowing you to be more creative. It stays put, so you don't have to be concerned about it falling apart. Sand is a lot of fun (it gets in your eyes, down your shirt, and so on). I can't think of anything I don't like about it. Unless you go for the pink version. The pink color is the only one that stains out of all the colors we've purchased (and we've gone through them all during a pandemic where we're all housebound and desperately stir crazy, trust me). The color rubbed off on my kids' hands and clothes, as well as staining our (expensive) outdoor patio furniture. Except there was nothing unusual about the texture of the Kinetic Sand or the packaging, I would have assumed I'd received a counterfeit product. br>br>The bottom line is that I give the normal Kinetic Sand five stars, but the PINK sand only gets one. Please use my experience to your advantage and choose a different color. It'll be just as much fun, I promise.
