Questions & Answers

What am I going to do with a pound of dice?

Various dice (d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, and d20) are required depending on the game being played. All of them are included in this bag. A pound is probably the most you'll ever need. As a result, you can either keep them as spare dice or share, sell, or give them away.

I understand that I am overly analytical about some things, but how does a pound of dice have a shipping weight of 14 pounds? 4 ounces?

Due to the fact that it is a Canadian Pound (before conversions)

Would the flaws in the factory-made products-made products-made products-made products-made products-made Is it possible that the addition of a second die will compromise the randomness of the first?

Possibly, but only on rare occasions. A factory second could be something as simple as a flaw in the paint on one of the faces. br>br>No dice are truly random; the mass removed to carve ten is greater than that removed to carve one, and this affects rolls even if you aren't aware of it. Surface painted numbers vs. carved numbers still have this problem because the paint required for 18 is heavier than that required for 1.br>br>Get over it and throw the bad dice in jail.

I placed an order for punditry. I ordered 100 six-sided dice and was not pleased; I needed those dice by today, so what should I do?

I'm sure I'd be pissed if you only got 6's. A complete basic set would be included in the package's small manila envelope. A 20, 12, 10, 8, 6, and a 4 are all possible combinations. If there isn't a good mix elsewhere, I have 30 6's that I'll lend out at tonight's session. Take a picture and send it to Chessix, asking if that is a reasonable mix for a Pound-for-Pound-for-Pound-for-Pound-for-Pound-for-Pound-for-P Let us know the outcome of the dice.br>

I've bought a lot of dice sets, bundles, bulk, and individual dice from a variety of manufacturers, including Chessex, and many of them sell on Amazon. Chessex has provided me with four pounds of dice. So that's where I got my knowledge. When another reviewer says they don't meet Chessex quality control, what does that mean? As far as I can tell, it's only of cosmetic value. I have a lovely D20 (red with yellow speckles - see photo) that I'd like to share. I have a set of this series and color) from one pound that has a slight green tint in one corner of one face. Unless you're looking for it, you won't be able to tell. On a few other dice, there's an odd dot that's not the same color as the rest of the dots or specs. There may be dice from swirl sets that lack enough of the swirl color or have other cosmetic flaws. So far, everything I've seen would pass QC for a lot of other, less expensive brands. br>br>Based on my experience, the roll quality of these dice is comparable to that of any other Chessex dice. People will claim that there are "fugly" factory seconds. Yes and no. Chessex does experiment with various color combinations, and some of them make it to the initial production run. There were a lot of dice with dual colors (one color on half the faces and another color on the other half), and some of the combinations were ugly. They do, however, roll very well. I like a few of the color combinations, but I'm not sure I agree with the majority of people. Some are seconds because they are production overruns, with a few more dXs and dYs making it through QC than the rest of the set (if you're lucky, they're from a set you already own and you get some extra matching dice). As a result, the leftovers are weighed and placed in a pound. br>br>And you won't find an even distribution of dice types (based on the number of sides)br>br>What you won't get are dice that are cupped or bulging on one or more sides, dice with chips out of them, dice with edges or corners that are rounded more than the other edges or corners on the dice, dice with an obvious mold "nubbin" at the injection site. Interestingly, these are things I've seen with production sets (that I've purchased) of even more expensive dice brands, including one that many claim to be the best. br>br>So, yes, you'll get some dice that aren't particularly beautiful. There will be blemishes on the surface. Other than the bonus set that comes with the package, you won't be able to find a complete set of matching dice (unless you're extremely lucky). You might get a lot more of one side of the dice than the other (I only got six d12s in one pound). br>br>You'd also spend around $120 (and probably more) on 14 sets of Chessex dice, and while you could get a pound of dice from another brand for a little less, you'll probably get better game play from the Chessex dice. br>br>I gave them five stars because you don't buy a pound of dice expecting them to be pretty, but you do expect them to roll well and feel good in your hand, and these do.

This is not a great dice bundle due to QC issues and bundled d6 pips (which no one wants)

Here's what I would have looked for before making my purchase: br>br>First and foremost, these are factory second die-cast cars. Set the right expectations for yourself. This could mean a number of things, but as far as I can tell, these are dice that Chessex has failed quality control on and/or are surplus: QC flaws include: br>br> br>Wrong color for setbr>Unpaintedbr>Scuffs, scratches, and other cosmetic damagebr>Disfiguredbr>Bad Batchbr>br>However, given that this is being sold as a retail product, the extent of the damage obviously shouldn't be significant or occupy a large portion of the set. br>br> Dice because they appeared to have more interesting colors (sparkly, translucent, smoke, speckled) than competitors, and because Chessex dice appear to be heavier (denser) and therefore provide a better rolling experience. I understand that Game Science is known for providing more statistically "accurate" dice, but my OCD for mathematically accurate dice outweighed my desire for dice that did not try to cut and kill me. I'd buy Vegas casino dice if I wanted accuracy!br>br>I got: 0 complete color sets (7-color) DIE STANDARD) in addition to the factory-guaranteed first set in the yellow envelope.

I received 107 dice in total, and out of those, 2013% were d6 pips, and 2012% were damaged (unusable even for factory seconds). So 25% of the dice are useless to me in total percentage of the dice are useless to me in total percentage of br>br>For this, I created a spreadsheet, which you can view by copying and pasting into Excel or Google Sheets.

brand color D4 D6 D8 D10 D10 D12 D20 TOTAL
CHESSEX RED MARBLED/SPECKLED 0 1 0 0 2 1 3 3 7
CHESSEX YELLOW MARBLED Even among the dice that I didn't label damaged, there were a few with minor issues, such as imperfections in number painting, slightly misaligned numbers, and so on. It's possible I got a weird batch that isn't representative of the larger pool, but I'll let you decide. br>br>So, what's the deal with 4-? three stars instead of three stars? The factory 1st limited production dice that come with the set are absolutely stunning. The finish is excellent, there appear to be no cosmetic defects (even minor ones), and the inking is clear with no bleed, and I received a purple/pink speckled die with black ink, and the quality is far superior to the rest of the dice. Easy Roller and Wiz Dice may offer you guaranteed complete sets with higher quality control, but they simply lack the variety and interesting patterns that Chessex does. Despite some reviews claiming that all of the dice are uniformly ugly, I did not find this to be the case. The majority of the dice were interesting or beautiful, with only a few that I would describe as "ugly. " br>br>I hope this information aids you in your decision-making!.

Have you been sifted through by a reseller? I've placed an order for these Pound-for-Pound-for-Pound products There had been duplicates and D20s before, but this time there were a lot more
3/5

In comparison to previous orders, the set I received lacked in overall diversity and uniqueness. Furthermore, it was shipped in a larger generic bag with the original bag, Chessex paper logo, and manila envelope wrinkled and stuffed in haphazardly, so I'm almost certain it was opened and picked through before being repackaged and sold. Also, there were far fewer dice than I had previously received from Pound-for-Pound. Lots of dice for not much money. br>br>These grab-bags have been a hit with me. I've purchased bags from Chessex in the past, but I'll only do so from now on.
