This brace, which I bought for each hand, is lightweight and supportive without being intrusive, so I can sleep with them on without much discomfort. Like most people with RA, I prefer to sleep with my limbs and digits free as much as possible. It not only supports my painful thumb joint, but it also serves as a great wrist brace. It's not nearly as heavy as any other wrist brace I've worn before. It wasn't intended for my wrist when I purchased it, so this surprised me. br>I can even crochet with them on, which was a pleasant surprise, and I like that they leave most of my hand and fingers free while protecting the specific joints I purchased them for. br>Because it's made of neoprene and is lightweight, I don't sweat while wearing it, even when I'm wrapped up in a blanket. It is relaxing; I don't have to take it off every time I do something because I can wear it. TMI. However, because the majority of the hand is free, my arthritis friends can easily use the bathroom and wash their hands. If you're having trouble with jerks in your thumb or wrist joints, try these! They're reasonably priced, simple to clean, and (as braces go) quite comfortable.
This has been extremely beneficial to me since I was recently diagnosed with early-onset arthritis in my thumb. I've been able to work while wearing this brace, which is especially helpful when it begins to bother me. Since it's cold outside, I've been wearing this almost all day, and it's very comfortable. My advice is to avoid wearing it too tight, as this will result in painful red marks. It doesn't have to be so tight that it cuts off circulation to your thumb or wrist; I have a fairly wide wrist and thumb, and this brace fits over them without difficulty. I've spilled food and drinks on it, and all I've done is hand wash it and air dry it. I do have to use a lint brush because I have pets, but other than that, it's a fantastic brace.
I see that the durability of this item has been mentioned by other reviewers. It appears that the more durable items are less comfortable, and the more comfortable items are less durable. That said, this is the most comfortable brace I've found, and it doesn't interfere with my yoga, pilates, or other workouts. I don't wear it all the time, so I'm hoping it will last with occasional use.
This brace has a great fit for me. It's a little slimmer than others I've had where it crosses your palm. It makes it easier to use your hand because it has a cut out on the end side of your thumb, which allows it to adjust to different thumb sizes much better. Other braces I've had had the same adjustable strap on the thumb, but the thumb was already tight fitting and they were a longer length for a woman with big fingers. I was never sure why they had a strap that could be adjusted. This one will comfortably fit a wide range of thumb sizes. I'm going to buy some more!.
It Is Effective. I was skeptical of the "copper" infused support product hype and claims. This one, on the other hand, appears to be effective. br>I am of a certain age. I have arthritis in the joint where my thumb meets my wrist, and I can barely grip anything at times. When I wear this brace at night, my joint feels a lot better in the morning. br>It's well-made as well. It's a high-quality, easy-to-use product.
The Velcro on the thumb of this brace only lasted a week before it became unusable. It didn't have much in the way of thumb food, either. The Velcro strips were attached and reattached several times during the last days I wore it. I only wore it for a few hours a day for five days before it became useless. I bought a different kind from a local store and find it to be much more supportive and less of a pain.
I've only had it for a day, but I'm already preferring it to the 3m I ordered as well. This has one large wrap around the wrist for stability and, of course, a small latch around the thumb, neither of which has gotten caught on anything throughout the day. Most tasks are still possible for me to complete. After I've used it while driving, which is where I have the most pain, I'll update this post.
The fit is good, and the support is excellent, but the mesh cover is peeling away.
