There are no instructions included with this item. I'm not sure what the extra parts are for, and I can't read instructions to figure out how to use the clamps properly. When I attempted to call the number, I was given the runaround and was forced to leave a message, which was never returned.
You're always short on clams, or the one you have isn't long enough for the project, as many woodworkers discover at some point. I took a chance on this product, and it has turned out to be fantastic. Stable, high pressure, and less expensive than other well-known brands. Pipe clams are versatile because they can be converted from a short to a long pipe in seconds. I'm hoping it lasts a long time, but so far everything has worked out well. It's worth a shot.
The quality of these clamps was a pleasant surprise to me. They're polished and smooth, with a nice rubber pad on the bottom. br>These clamps were used in conjunction with 5-foot pipes. They've been used to make four-foot shelves out of doweled and glued stock so far. A product, to be precise.
Overall, the clamps performed admirably. While I was putting the work together, it went smoothly. However, after the glue had set for a day, one of the clamps froze when I tried to remove it. To free it up, I needed channel locks, a wrench, and a lot of determination. The good news is that a little grease on the threads fixed the issue. Before using the threads, it's probably a good idea to grease them.
These appeared to be quite attractive. I really wanted to like them, and I did at first, so I have a lot of them. Regrettably, the more I use them, the worse their performance becomes. Even when lubricated, the screw threads become stiffer and stickier for some reason, making the clamp difficult to use, especially one-handed. When a screw is stuck, the clamp as a whole wants to rotate away from the work piece before tightening. br>For roughly the same price, you can get the original orange P- The performance of y clamps is vastly superior.
I've tried a lot of pipe clamps, and these are by far the best, and the price is very reasonable.
The pipe clamps are fantastic. I use these more than my original Jorgensen because of their great value and low price. Do not be swayed by the bad reviews. If you bought these and complained that they didn't come with instructions, you should buy them again.
I'm retired from a job where I'd have to use them on a daily basis, so I'll have to wait a while to see how long they last.
