To fully clamp down, I found it necessary to use some "elbow grease." Because the handles are a little short, there isn't much leverage. It is similar to bolt cutters in that it requires both hands to operate, so it isn't really a test of hand strength. I found myself wishing for a third hand to hold the clamp steady while I crimped it, as keeping the clamp from slipping up and down while trying to apply left-handed crimping was difficult. To close it, apply just the right amount of pressure.

The fact that this tool works is a plus. It includes a good pex cutter as well as some clamps. The crimper isn't the best option, but if you're only doing one-half of a project, it's a good option. I say SIX as in SIX as in SIX as in SIX as in SIX as in SIX as in SIX as in SIX as in SIX as ) then this will suffice. br>br>Be aware that in order to compress the crimp, you will need to use two hands (or have one very large hand, like a fiddler crab). This will be a problem in cramped spaces and when trying to line up a crimp to the perfect point. If you try to crimp a tee under a house or in a wall, you'll have a problem - it won't fit. br>br>As a quick DIY or handy-man project, get the majority of your crimps started where you can lay out your pex on the floor or job site. br>br> This is an outstanding tool, man. However, if you want to take your crimper to the next level, look for one that ratchets and is designed for one-handed use. use of one hand The pipe cutter and crimps. br>br> However, it's just fine.
This kit helped me complete my first PEX plumbing project, and it was a success. The cutter easily and cleanly cuts 3/4" PEX. The crimp tool was also ideal for crimping and cutting off the clamps I had mistakenly crimped before properly positioning all of the fittings. This item was delivered quickly and at a reasonable cost. When cutting off the crimped clamps, be careful to keep your eyes protected because the cut clamp can become a projectile and fly in unexpected directions. The crimp tool is a few inches shorter than the much more expensive versions you find in big box stores, which is likely why it takes a little more effort to start the crimping process; I'm sure this compact tool provides a little less leverage than the $60 crimp tools that are heavier duty and have longer handles. However, because it is lighter and more maneuverable in tight spaces, the smaller size makes it easier to store in a toolbox, bin, or drawer. It is also probably easier to hold steady while positioning on a loose clamp.
It seemed like a useful tool at the time, but it has since broken and cannot be repaired. I should've spent a little more money on something nicer.
A rat chewed a hole in a hot water Pex line, so I used this Cinch tool to fix it today. The line was cut like butter by the cutter, and it was incredibly simple to do. The Cinch tool is well-made and functional, but it took some effort to tighten it. Can't say I blame the tool; I could have spent more money on a better racheting one, but it gets the job done for a good price. It stopped my water leak on the first try, and I'd never worked with a tool like this or Pex before. The most difficult part was keeping the tool still while attempting to Cinch it down so that the clamp did not move.
I'm nearly finished with a complete re-organization. These tools have completed the piping of my entire trailer, from grey pipe to PEX. It doesn't matter whether you crimp or cut; what matters is that it gets the job done. Now that I've done a lot of 1/2 inch jobs, it's a lot easier than 3/4 inch, but for the money, you can't beat it. The pipe cutter is also excellent, and it maintains a sharp edge. I highly recommend this set because I can "knock on wood" complete an entire refitting with just one tool, which is difficult to say with inexpensive tools these days.
The rings and cuts work as expected, and the instructions are easy to follow. The only criticism I have is that when switching from 1 to 2 or 2 to 1, you have to crimp it a little to find that sweet spot to push the pin back into the "square hole. " It works once you figure out the trick, but it's not as simple as you might think. br>I would have preferred to see the crimp tool stay locked - I would have paid $5 more for a hard shell case for when I was transporting it. The cutter is also in good condition; it makes almost straight cuts due to the small tolerance between the teeth of the blade - Better than what I had previously purchased from my local Lowe's. I'll buy it again and recommend it to others, and yes, I would have paid more for the futures mentioned above.
I've never had any experience with pex or crimp connections. Ever. I was concerned, but after doing some research on this tool kit, I discovered that the reviews and recommendations are accurate. This is a fantastic tool. I completed the job in half a day, surprising my wife by how quickly the water was restored. Re- The crimper works great, though it requires two hands to keep the tool steady, not for force but just to keep it steady. I plumbed the hot and cold lines from the water heater, 20 feet to the kitchen sink, and the cold water line another 25 feet to a new hose bib outside. The removal procedure is a little strange, but I only had one issue that necessitated removal at the start. The tubing cutter was razor-sharp and finely crafted. I just wish I hadn't included 3/4" and 1/2" crimps in the mix. Other than that, I'm not sure if I'll ever use them.
For the price, this is an excellent tool that replaced all of my steel pipes in my home in one day. I didn't realize I'd need the hose cut tool until it was too late. I have a ratchet type cutter as well, but the cutting tool that came with this kit made the job go much faster. The ratcheting crimper is well made; the handles could be a little longer for leverage, but for someone who won't be using it every day, it's fine; and the clamps in this kit work flawlessly; I'm very pleased with it.
