Do you cover your thermostat with insulation?

I wrapped it in insulation tape and it kept me warm throughout the winter.

Will I have to cut this 10' cable to length in order to protect a 9' pipe? Is it possible to simply overlap the excess?

You can overlap it and always leave an extra 6 inches at the beginning and end to wrap around the faucet end and reach and feel if it's working.

This heating tape is the most effective on the market. It is the one that professional plumbers recommend. Your pipes will receive more heat, and it will not matter if they overlap. I live in the frigid north, and I've never had a problem with my pipes when I've used this and - It's not unusual to have a birthday in the year 20.
