I've never used it on pex, but my neighbor claims that it's fine because the heat is so low.
I've used foam insulation before and it works well.
I put this product to the test by wrapping it in a towel and wrapping it over itself several times. Place an ice bag on the thermostat to keep it from turning off. It was on for more than an hour and never became too hot to be dangerous.
No, you should not cut tape; instead, you should purchase a short one.

The water line in the tankless box froze over last winter. I had to use a heat gun to defrost it. Please do not repeat- br>I had this installed and can now sleep soundly knowing that it is secure. Zip ties, electrical tape, and a meter will be required in addition to the cable. My installer removed the plug and hard-wired the device, which will be turned on as needed by the cable thermostat. br>Otherwise, the plug would have had to protrude from the box, necessitating box modification. br>Excellent work!.
In line with expectations.
It prevents the freezing of my pipes. However, putting it on in the cold is a bit of a challenge.
The product is fantastic!.
Installing it was a breeze. It's all good.
I was disappointed because the sensor appears to need to be taped directly to the water line in order for it to work. I was hoping that the sensor would detect the temperature of the surrounding air and heat up the line, but it doesn't, so it's useless to me.
