This product must not be used on any drain, as the directions warn against it! The hose/pipe must have water in it for it to work or else it will get too hot and damage it.
Use this product only on PVC that is always submerged in water, according to the manufacturer. In that case, the PVC will not function if it doesn't have water all the time.
A parallel pipe is not wrapped with it, it is tied to it. I think the rain gauge would work if it was three feet long. The plastic may get damaged or melt if it is wrapped.
