Questions & Answers

Is it thermostatically controlled, and if not, what temperature will it turn on at? Is it possible to install the cable on top of existing pipe insulation?

Keep your pipes from freezing this winter with Frost King HC6A 6 Feet Automatic Electric Heat Cable Kits, Black. The Frost King Electric Heat Cable Kit prevents your water pipes from freezing thanks to its built-in thermostat. There will be no more bursting pipes! br>br>For use on 2 in. br>br> Metal and plastic pipes are used to transport water. br>Maintains the flow of water down to - Temperatures are hovering around 40°F. br>There is a power indicator light on the plug.

How much does it cost to run a business on a monthly basis?

If the power consumption is 7 watts per foot, the longest 30 foot cable will consume 7x30=210 watts. Divide by 1,000 to get the answer. 24 hours x 21kW = 5. 04 kWh per day multiplied by the cost of electricity In my area, this is $0. a whopping $0.08 per kWh It would cost $40 per day in electricity if it were on 24 hours a day, which it isn't unless it's - This isn't wrapped in pipe insulation because it's 30 degrees outside. It's not even close to $3 per day.

What is the required wattage?

The HC12 draws zero amps, according to the UL tag. When turned on, this device draws 7 amps at 120 volts and consumes 84 watts. The tape is thermostatically controlled, so it will turn on and off as needed to maintain the desired temperature.

For rv camping in the cold, this is a must
5/5

If you're going to set up an rv in a cold climate, you'll want to keep the following tips in mind. That's exactly what you've been looking for! br>br>I'm sure Camco is still in business because of inexperienced RVers who don't know any better. The heated hoses (and most other products) are garbage, but they always seem to be on the shelves. DO NOT BUY THE CAMECO HEATED HYDRATED HYDRATED HYDRATED I used this, and for an extra $25 in tape and foam, I had a far superior hose for less than the cost of the Camco one, which will break at the worst possible time. br>br>First - Order one that is the same length as your hose but not longer. br>br>Place your hose on the ground and use duct tape to secure the heat strip to the hose at every 12-inch interval. 14 inches in length This goes much faster with two people, but you can do it on your own. br>br>Wrap the combination in cheap pipe insulation from Home Depot. Tape it up in the same way, especially at the ends and seams. br>br>Ensure that the round thermostat button is on the OUTSIDE of the insulation. Also, make sure there isn't a foot or two of heat tape dangling from the opposite end. It's a waste of time. br>br>Hook it up and leave it alone. The water hose never froze during our week of camping in single digit temperatures with nights dropping to a few degrees below zero. It was just right.

NOT SUITABLE FOR THE PURPOSE! I had been using a small radiator heater in a thirty foot long crawl space to keep pipes from freezing until yesterday, when I decided that was too dangerous and a waste of energy, so I bought this product and spent an hour and a half in there installing it
3/5

Working on my back with old insulation, dust, and dirt and only 30 inches of working height was a complete nightmare. br>The end result? For the first time in history, frozen pipes! br>After installation, I tested the product with a bag of ice, as instructed, and it turned on, but there must be a problem with the thermostat because despite a low of 15, it did not turn on. When I went to check on my now-frozen pipes last night, it wasn't on! As we say back home, "IT'S NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE!"
Now. I'm in charge of detaching it so that I can return it. Please allow me to give a rating of less than one star.

There were no issues with using the RV! During the winter, I used it to store my RV
5/5

Heated hoses are a lot more expensive. When everyone else was frozen up, I paralleled it on the water hose, taped every foot, and covered it with pool noodles and never had an issue! It was well worth the money and was simple to use, with a nice visual glow and a reliable temperature sensor.

It's fantastic! Okay, so I just got my 12' Frost King and thought I'd put it to the test
5/5

The Backstory: For the next ten days, I'll be at Elk Camp with my 20' Clipper. I needed a way to keep the water lines from freezing because the average low at 9500 feet is around 15 degrees. That being said, I didn't want to take any chances, so I put it to the test here at home first. Since we're out in the woods, I didn't want to use my generator and ruin the experience by having a loud machine running all night, so I grabbed my portable jump starter and set this puppy up (see photos). An earlier Power assessment was correct at 7W per foot, and after 15 minutes under the ice packs, it turned on and began to warm up. NOTE: The cable isn't instantaneous; on ice, it took 15 minutes for ANY wattage to kick in. As my plan began to take shape, I became increasingly excited. I decided to see what kind of temperature this cable was emitting, so I grabbed a meat thermometer and put it to the test: 30 minutes after plugging it in, I'm just under 110 degrees! Now I understand why this cable isn't supposed to be wrapped or crossed. The temperature rises! I gave it five stars because it does exactly what it claims to do. On to Elk Camp, where you'll find all the necessities of a camper!.

Excellent value for money

It was much less expensive than the electric blanket my wife was nagging me about, so I bought it for her.

It stopped working after two months
3/5

While it lasted, it performed admirably. After that, there was a halt and - nada- It wasn't even a pleasant temperature. I'm completely deafeningly silent, and I don't know why. It hasn't been tampered with, chewed on, or moved in any way. Fortunately, I also purchased pipe insulation, which prevented the pipes from freezing. It's too late for a refund; we'll have to speak with Amazon about the 30-day return policy. There are times when it simply isn't long enough.

Although well-made, it is not suitable for water sphigots
5/5

It works fine, but it should not be used with water sphigots or hydrants. According to the manual, the device should never be wrapped around a pipe, sphigot, or hydrant. It should be stated explicitly in the advertisement, but it isn't. br>This product should be installed in a three-foot straight line along a three-foot straight water-filled metal or plastic 3/4" - I bought a 5" pipe to use as a sphighot/hydrant, but it won't work. But I'm going to keep it.

You don't have to do anything because it works
5/5

Make a water hose that will not freeze! I used PEX (with shark bite fittings) wrapped in aluminum foil, then this heat wrap, then more aluminum foil, then foam pipe wrap and secured with aluminum tape to make a freeze-proof water hose to reach my chicken coop. br>This is the source of water for my automatic chicken watering system, which has lasted through several bitterly cold nights. No more frozen water lines or carrying water to my birds by hand. br>In the freezing weather, this little gem saved me a lot of time. br>*wrap it around the pipe and faucet as well, and you're done!.
