Miter capacity ranges from 0 to 50 degrees on both the left and right sides. Corded is the type of power tool.
Miter angles are quickly and accurately achieved with the cam lock miter handle with detent override.

Questions & Answers

Is there a line where the LEDs should be cut off?

This saw can be upgraded by adding an LED light. A shadow light, rather than a laser, is used to show where the saw blade will cut. It was only last night that I completed it. For around $70, you can get all of the necessary parts. This effectively transforms it into a Model 780, which is significantly more expensive, and it's a relatively simple addition.

Is there a laser or any kind of guiding system included with this miter saw?

It is not equipped with a laser for navigation. br>You might think my response is a little crude, but I've been using miter saws for a long time and the best guiding system I've found to work is my/your eyes. Whether you have lasers or not, you'll still need to use your eyes to get the work piece close to the cutoff point. I hope this information is useful.

I know Dewalt sells a kit to add xps to some saws, but this model wasn't listed. ?

Yes. Purchase the parts and install them yourself at your local DeWalt Service Center. I used the following components: 624730-N030317 Work Light, N030317 Work Light, N030317 Work Light, N030317 Work 00 - N078832 - Handle Set Supply of electricity. br>A YouTube video is available (be sure to watch the one labeled "With circuit diagram"). br>With tax, the parts were under $66. It took about 15 minutes for me to complete. It took me 20 minutes to set it up. Replace the top part of the handle, install the light, route the wires, and splice the power wires (pay close attention to the video and read the caption on the circuit diagram). It isn't mentioned, but I like how they did the splice) and the power supply installation. The XPS decal is the only thing you'll be missing.

What is the distance between the bottom of the saw (workbench top) and the top of the saw's cutting table?

Actually, it's three. Height is 1/2". To level a long piece of lumber, you can use short pieces of dress 2 x 4 x 16" on edge.

This isn't the DWS779 from the beginning
3/5

A few features have been removed from the game. To begin with, this is an excellent saw. It's both precise and effective. DeWalt, on the other hand, has tweaked a few features. Please keep in mind that the DWS779 you will receive is not the same as the DWS779 that was distributed a few years ago. A comparison of an OLD DWS779 and a NEW DWS779 can be seen in the attached image. The following are the five main distinctions: 1. br>br> The 60 tooth blade that came with the old dws 779 was of higher quality. The 32-tooth blade on the new dws 779 is of lower quality. The 32-tooth blade is ideal for making rough cuts in the construction industry. If you're doing trim work, however, a higher-quality blade with more teeth is required. This raises the total cost. br>2. The old DWS 779 has a unique back fence that allows it to cut material up to 16" wide. You're essentially creating a one-of-a-kind deck (1. ). 5" thick, and secure it with the two holes in the fence). The holes in the new Dws 779 have been removed, making it impossible to attach the special deck. The maximum width is now approximately 13. 75 centimeters (possibly 14 inches)
3. Crown stops (Pawls) on the old DWS 779 make it simple to set the saw's bevel angle to 22 degrees. 5 & The temperature is currently 9 degrees. When cutting a crown in a flat orientation, this is the standard procedure. Crown stops (pawls) have been eliminated on the new DWS779 model.
4. A slide lock lever is found on the old DWS 779. This puts the slide in the best position for vertical cuts of maximum height, as well as allowing you to lock the slide quickly without having to use the back screw. The new DWS 779 does not have a slide lock lever.
5. The kerf plate on the old DWS 779 is made up of two pieces. The new DWS 779 allows you to adjust the gap where the blade drops to provide support for narrow and precise cuts. Because the kerf plate is a single piece, there is no way to adjust it. br>br>All of these changes are likely to help Dewalt save money. The MSRP for this saw, however, is still listed at $559. If you got the dws779 with the original design, this would make sense. I believe they should be more upfront about the changes and assign this saw a new model number so that everyone is aware of them. I'm torn between keeping this saw and returning it. If you want all of the features of the original DWS779, you'll have to get the dws780 (it has all of the features plus the XPS cut light).

Keep in mind that DeWalt sliding compound miter saws come in a variety of models
5/5

Update 3- 2019- Right now, Amazon has a great deal on this saw for $334. Perhaps the best of all time. Buy it! br>_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ the- line DWS780 corded sliding compound miter saw does not include the DWS780's excellent XPS guide light. The DWS779 is currently $200 cheaper than the DWS780-S on Amazon (as of January 2017) and elsewhere (Home Depot online). If you don't need the light, you can save a lot of money. DeWalt used to sell an XPS light as an accessory for older saw models, but they are no longer available. Although the accessory lights are still available on Ebay, the electrical coupler for the accessory is no longer included in newer saws. There are videos on YouTube that show how to order parts from the DWS780 parts list and hack them onto the DWS779. It will cost you around $70 and will require some effort. br>br>My wife gave me a DWS709 12-volt battery charger. On Black Friday, Home Depot had a 12-inch sliding compound miter saw. It was advertised as a $549 value that was being sold as a "Special Deal" for $399 (plus a $25 discount from the manufacturer at the register). When she gave it to me for Christmas, I looked it up and discovered that it was a very different saw from the DWS780, and that it was then selling for $349 at Home Depot (after Christmas). The DWS780, DeWalt's top-of-the-line circular saw, was advertised prominently in Home Depot's Black Friday ads, leading my wife to believe she was purchasing the DWS780. the- line saw. The model number was not mentioned in the Black Friday ad, and it was not displayed in the store, implying a deliberate attempt to deceive potential buyers. br>br>The saw she ended up with (the DWS709) is a twelve-inch circular saw. inch compound sliding saw However, while it appears to be similar to the DWS779 and DWS780 on the surface, it has lower cutting capacity and a few other minor flaws (handle placement, miter-cutting). release of the angle adjustment, and so on). Despite offering the DWS709 as a Black Friday "special" for $399, Home Depot regularly sells the saw for less than $399 on its website. br>br>This saw, the DWS779, is regularly sold for $399 on the web. It's the DWS780 without the XPS light, with the same motor, fence, blade, stops, and capacities as the DWS780, and it's what I paid for it on Amazon, and it's what it costs at Home Depot online. Occasionally, Home Depot will offer a special combo of a DeWalt 12-volt drill and a DeWalt 12-volt cordless drill. For $599, you can get a 12-inch sliding miter saw with a stand. However, in my experience, the saw sold with the stand is not the DWS780, but the DWS779 and occasionally the DWS709. Purchasers who are unaware of the various models (and I believe DeWalt intentionally obscures model differences to enable such marketing ploys) are unaware that the same saw can be purchased for $399. They believe they are getting the best deal. the- DeWalt DWS780 sliding miter saw comes with a free stand (worth about $200). Instead, they'll get a DWS779 or DWS709 saw, as well as a stand, which they could get separately for less money. Finally, if you can live without the XPS light, everything people say about the DWS780 applies to the tool itself (the DWS779). Good saw. Heavy. HEAVY, to put it bluntly. I can't believe how much heavier it is than my 20-pound backpack. year- This is an old DeWalt miter saw. But it's a great machine, and if you're going to use it on the job, you'll need a rolling stand for it. Please believe me when I say this.

Horse that is put to work
4/5

I've had three of these saws over the years. They are well built, cut true, and are simple to adjust. They are a little heavy and cumbersome, but what would you expect from a 16" straight cut capacity saw? Spend the money on a rolling stand; you'll be glad you did. This saw lacks a laser, but any carpenter worth his sawdust knows that a laser isn't necessary for precise cutting. Buy the "779" instead of the "780" to save a few hundred dollars. Spend the extra cash on the rolling stand, and then get back to work!.
