Is there a four-position blade clamp on it?

There is no four-position blade on the DCS386B.

Does the blade, like the older xrp, go sideways as well?

A horizontal blade clamp may or may not be included in the saw. Cutting close to floors, walls, or ceilings with limited clearance is possible by installing a blade in the horizontal orientation. To avoid kickback, make sure your shoe is pressed against the frame.

Is it true that the batteries are included?

The DCS386B model does not come with batteries.

Is it capable of both straight and reciprocating cuts?

Straight lines can be cut with a reciprocating saw.

This tool is one of my favorites; it's an excellent addition to any toolbox. The only thing I don't like about it is that the blade holder can only be in one position. My older 18v sawzall had a multi-position blade holder that allowed me to make different angled cuts without moving the tool into an awkward position. However, this isn't a deal breaker.

Your item will be displayed in a box

The item itself is in perfect working order. I'm annoyed that the item was sent in its own box, which clearly stated what was inside, robbing my boyfriend of a Christmas present, in his opinion. Also, because the item was advertised right on the box, it could have easily been stolen from my front porch. Every Amazon order I've ever received has come in an Amazon box. . . I'm disappointed that it didn't come in an Amazon box the one time it didn't, because it was supposed to be a Christmas present.
