I am not certain of the watts, but it is a piece of crap since the belts break after 30 seconds.
I don't use mine even though it's pretty slow and the belts constantly break.
During my usage, I lasted no more than two or three hours. My experience may not be sufficient, but I have never been faced with this issue. Several times before I felt ready to respond to your question, I tried it out and had the same result. Did you know that there is an adjustment knob (white plastic) on the top front of the machine which lets you change the angle of the roller under the belt? You can turn it right or left to change the direction the belt moves. It needs to be running and this knob needs to be turned. When I tried mine out, I was able to make the belt go right or left by rotating the knob, but then I was able to set it back in alignment without any difficulty. Here is my attempt to help.

Even though I thought I was purchasing the cordless one when I bought this, it worked great, the belt remained adjusted appropriately after adjustment throughout the project I was working on.
There were a lot of dust and dirt on the belt sander and the belt was installed with an older 2" belt Additionally, there was damage to the tension release lever used to change the belts. The product did not seem to have been refurbished as advertised and it was in poor condition.
The belt sander I have is great. To my collection, it is another tool from Ryobi.
I would definitely buy it again, it was very easy to use.
Product of the highest quality.
Although good for hobbies, it isn't strong enough to handle industrial use.
